Say you're a guy of substantial means who already has a big SUV to drive every day. You're thinking of a toy that'll take you anywhere and get noticed while doing it. Well simply put there's nothing bigger badder or more noticeable than this massive red Hummer. A kind of mutant offspring of a Hummer and a hot rod it'll go anywhere climb anything and do it with four people strapped into those leather-lined seats. To answer your first question yes it's a real Hummer H1 body. Liberated from its original chassis it's fitted to a substantially lighter 1978 Chevrolet K30 4x4 pickup truck frame (this one is actually titled & registered on that frame too btw). The entire frame was stripped and beefed up for heavy duty performance under the big SUV Hummer H1 body and once the necessary adjustments were made the entire truck was then rebuilt from the ground up with just about every high performance part and upgrade the builder could find. Today this bright red flyer will hammer away from red lights like a muscle car and jump over broken ground like a gazelle. The bright red paint certainly helps with the sporty demeanor and even though it was built for combat situations it looks awfully pretty sitting in our showroom and no doubt built to show quality standards. There are no doors so hang on tight and all the usual Hummer design cues are there from the snorkel on the hood to the seven-bar grille to the stubby pickup bed out back that's still surprisingly practical. Aluminum steps help you climb in and the tan canvas top is easily removed for true open-air motoring. Big details were put into even the smallest areas and you'll be hard-pressed to find a crease or fold that isn't breathtakingly nice. The interior is just as basic and bare-bones as in the original configuration although the leather-wrapped sport seats with 5-point harnesses certainly up the ante a bit. The big picnic table between the seats is still there (originally to hold the engine now just as a conversation piece) and there's a jump seat between the rear seats to add room for two more passengers. A wild billet wheel and trick Auto Meter instruments were stuffed in as well giving it a high-tech look that's more hot rod than off-roader. A Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo was stuffed into the center "console" area along with the shifter for the TH400 3-speed automatic underneath and there are speakers cleverly stashed throughout the interior. Thanks to a recent build just about everything is in outstanding condition with very little use and it's unlikely that this truck has actually seen any serious off-road action since it was completed. To get all that steel up and moving there's a massive 502 cubic inch crate motor up front. Installed as-delivered it makes enough power and torque to turn this truck into a semi-serious threat on the pavement and completely untouchable in the dirt. A big aluminum radiator keeps things cool and the plumbing and electrical systems are expertly installed for a very OEM look. Long-tube headers feed a dual exhaust system that sounds spectacular. A TH400 3-speed automatic with a 2800 RPM stall converter feeds a NP205 transfer case and there are 4.56 gears on Detroit Lockers in the 1-ton axles at both ends. The lifted suspension with expensive Bilstein shocks means that this truck will go virtually anywhere without complaint and look good doing it. Color-matched wheels look tiny inside those massive 19.5-44/15 TSL Bogger Super Swamper tires but you'll want all that sidewall when the going gets rough. Big bold and offering no apologies this Hummer is off-road fun for four at its finest. Not for everyone but if that's your kind of madness this is the right truck for it. Call today!
