Old school rods like this wild 1941 Ford pickup offer a lot of thrills with a unique look that stands out among the usual cookie-cutter fiberglass cars most guys are driving. And this wild gasser-style Ford doesn't just look ferocious it IS ferocious with an over-built small block and a ton of attitude. The gasser look was all the rave in the early '60s ostensibly designed to move weight onto the rear wheels. The look evokes a specific piece of history and for many the nostalgic solid axle look just screams performance. This Ford doesn't pull any punches and quite accurately reproduces look while simultaneously being quite street-friendly and easy to drive something that couldn't be said of many original gassers. The body's a mixture of components that kind of obscure the Ford's identity but the cab should look familiar and the alterations were all made in the name of performance. Dig how the exhaust headers dump through the front fenders the wide front grille that's from something other than a Ford and. The light blue paint job has a metallic sheen that could pass for '60s candy and looks far nicer than any period race car ever could. There's also a cool fabricated bed with a padded tonneau that gives it a neat finished look. And yes that's a parachute out back but I'd recommend leaving it alone unless it's a truly dire emergency. The interior is all about minimalism with a pair of low-back buckets tucked into the rakish cab. The dash is full of Auto Meter white-faced Phantom gauges and if you're looking for creature comforts you've come to the wrong place I'm afraid. What it does offer is a fairly authentic ride into the past and a scary amount of accessible performance and a few details that are just plain cool. For instance check out the long shift handle on the B&M Pro Ratchet shifter complete with piston knob up top the track style 3-spoke steering wheel and bone-simple vinyl door panels. The seating position is low and cool and if you do it right nobody will give you a hard time on the street. For safety as well as the race-ready look there's a fire extinguisher mounted between the seats and you'll note that the windshield still cranks open for a little extra ventilation. That retro-looking 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 is 100Oasty. Topped by a pair of Holley double-pumpers on a cross-ram intake it has an exotic look especially with those vintage scoops up top. Finned valve covers and a few chrome bits dress it up since it's out there on display and the white firewall is a traditional rodding look. The frame is bright red and yes there's a straight axle on leaf springs up front. The transmission is a heavy-duty TH400 feeding a narrowed rear end that hangs on a 4-link setup with wheelie bars just in case. It's not detailed but does have a gnarly race-grunge look that's quite appropriate and the big-n-little tire combination not only fills the fenders but levels out the ride for easy use on the street. This is not a truck for the timid or shy but if you remember that special period in racing history this truck hits all the right notes. Call today!
