The Panoz AIV Roadster checks all the right boxes from a collectability standpoint -- aluminum bodied, very low production numbers, factory support from a manufacturer that is still in business... Plus it's a well-developed chassis with a stout driveline and performance to back up its good looks. According to the Panoz factory, in Braselton, Georgia, 176 AIV (Aluminum Intensive Vehicle) Roasters were made, with 55 produced in 1999. Two of those were red. With fewer than 2,000 miles, this example is like new and appears as though it just rolled out of the factory. All exterior and interior surfaces are practically flawless with no discernible wear. We have records back to new including a copy of the manufacturer's certificate of origin, the original invoice, the owner's manual and 1999 Panoz literature. Factory-supplied soft top is included in original Panoz carrying case; it has never been used. The current owner purchased the car in 2006 with 1630 miles; only 300 miles have been added to the clock in the last eight years. After having driven this car, I can say the owner must have incredible restraint -- it would be difficult for me not to drive it 300 miles in a single afternoon. Georgia registration and emissions are current, and of course the title is clear. Under the hood is an all-aluminum, dual-overhead cam, 32-valve Ford engine churning out 305 horsepower (it's the same engine as the contemporaneous Mustang Cobra SVT). The five-speed manual transmission is a great match for this engine; clutch and gearbox feel like new, as you would expect given the low mileage. Needless to say, the car is incredible to drive -- it's well balanced and agile thanks to good weight distribution and a stainless steel and aluminum tube frame. And both the sound and the throttle response of the SVT Cobra engine are nothing short of seductive. Panoz is currently taking orders for a 25th anniversary edition of the AIV roadster -- essentially the same car with a few updates, but it will set you back a mere $99,000. The factory still services this model and also carries a full complement of spare parts, including body panels, should the need arise. Many buyers of pre-owned Panoz cars opt to send them back to the factory for a checkup prior to taking delivery. Although this example has no known needs, given our proximity to the factory (it's a few miles up I-85 from us) we are happy to accommodate a factory service for this car's new owner. For more information about this low production, low mileage Panoz AIV Roadster available at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call . Price: $49,900
