The vehicle that we are presenting started life as a Ferrari 330 GT 2+2,Series 2. This car was shipped to well known coach builder and GTO specialist, Allegretti in Modena, Italy. The process began by removing the original 330 body and shortening the frame to the correct original GTO dimensions. Allegretti is considered by many to be one of the finest builders of GTO bodies and was soon at work fabricating a new body. While this process was being done, a team went to work on rebuilding the engine. The engine was fitted with six twin choke downdraft Weber carburetors and high performance cams. The engine is believed to have an output in excess of 300 horse power. This car has been fitted with the period correct Borrani wire wheels and wears new Dunlop racing tires. Many of the parts in this car are GTO originals. In 1991 the car was shipped back to the USA where Automotive Restorations of Stratford, CT, set it against a totally original 1962 GTO for comparison and to ensure that every detail had been correctly replicated. This resulted in some minor revisions to the new body and the completion of a spectacular recreation. This car has breath taking performance and sounds like any other 250 GTO.
