Totally custom but never over the top, this 1962 Chevrolet Nova Roadster is a multiple-award-winning open-top street rod that is an entire level above most custom builds. No expense was spared and no detail has been overlooked - from the chopped windshield, to the custom Gabe Lopez interior and the immensely powerful 540ci engine. There are three meticulously organized binders containing receipts, service & component manuals and build photos on file with the car.This Nova is built on a complete Art Morrison box-tube chassis with 2 narrowed Morrison Mustang II independent front suspension, 4-Bar Morrison rear suspension, four-wheel adjustable coilovers and a Scribner narrowed Ford 9 rear end with Currie 3.50 9+ gearing. Under the hood is a big block V8 that began life as a 502 but has been bored and stroked out to 540 cubic inches of high performance. The engine features a full Crane roller rocker setup, flat-top Speed Pro pistons w/ shortened skirts, forged rods, Chevy Bow-Tie rectangular ported heads, forged steel rods, Melling high-volume oil pump, Manley timing system, Clevite 77 main & rod bearings, ARP fasteners, custom-built Ron Davis radiator and MSD HEI distributor. The engine breathes through a 750cfm Holley carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 2 Sanderson block-hugger headers and a thunderous custom 3 Flowmaster exhaust.To handle the extreme performance, the engine is backed by a TH400 transmission with Kevlar bands, Torrington bearings, RayBestos clutches, TransGo shift kit and Hughes 3000 stall converter. Four-wheel disc brakes with 11 drilled rotors provide the stopping power behind 17 Boyd's Dune wheels.The body and interior of this '62 more than keep pace with the high-performance engine & suspension with endless custom bodywork that includes a 2 chop on the windshield, billet front grille, shaved door handles, custom chrome plating and faultless panel fit and gaps. The Gabe Lopez interior features superb tan leather upholstery with incredible custom inlays, Glide SS2 front bucket seats, black wool carpeting, a custom Panasonic sound system, Dakota digital dash and billet specialties steering wheel.To say that this Nova is one of the finest customs we've ever seen would be an incredible understatement.
