Are you looking for a luxury hot rod? This "72 Ford LTD Convertible is the car for you! Luxury hot rod, you say? Surely this is a contradiction of terms. Alas, no. This is the perfect marriage of performance and plush comfort. Originally, a Ford LTD was the furthest thing from “performance car' probably sold in the United States. However, some people have the vision, and that"s how you get cool cars like this. Enter a new power plant. A new 460 cubic inch block from Ford Racing Technologies, to be specific. Souped up with aluminum Edelbrock Performer heads and an Edelbrock 460 Performer RPM manifold, this big convertible really puts the power down. It breathes through a 4 barrel Weber carburetor, and lubrication comes courtesy of a Milodon high performance oil pump and deep oil pan. The noise, which is a glorious noise, is provided from a pair of exhaust headers and some Flowmaster mufflers. How much horsepower is that good for, you ask? More than enough. This LTD is able to roast tires on demand, but if you choose, you can also cruise the boulevard in quiet style. This is a true sleeper car, and one you"re not likely to run across at your local car shows, either. Inside, the red leather interior is kept quite nicely. The bench seat has been replaced with a pair of leather bucket seats, and a small red center console rests between the two seats for additional storage space. The column shifted automatic remains, however, giving no hints at this car"s performance aspirations. Otherwise, this is a large, power steering, power brakes luxury liner. Speaking of power accessories, this LTD also has power windows, and a power operated convertible top. They don"t get much fancier than this, folks. This LTD underwent its enhancement and restoration in 2012, so it"s all quite fresh, and honestly, it"s a ball of fun. You"ll be hard-pressed to find a better way to get confused thumbs up, compliments, and just general attention than a big block Ford powered luxury convertible! Ready to hit the road?
