This rare example is a frame off restored truck form 2003. Found on a farm in Walton NY, where it was used for farm duties since the late 50s. Advertised "For Sale" in a local paper for $700.00 on July 14th, 2001, a local retired bank executive purchased it and decided this would be his project to restore it back to its original state. After he and some helpers pushed it onto the trailer, so the process began. Originally Medium Blue, the paint was in poor condition, however the body was overall solid with one small hole in the floor by the gas pedal. Photos of the neglected truck were taken before the restoration process. Over the next 2 years, the truck was dismantled and a complete frame off restoration took place. Every piece was refurbished or replaced. The orig. engine, a 241 V8 Power Dome over head valve engine was the first year V8 and wasn't common to see in a pickup. 1/2 ton models were called "B" series, the first letter designated on the Dodge truck line up. The engine has all the factory components, heads, intake, carb, dist., radiator, exhaust manifold were also refurbished. The 3 spd. trans. was also inspected during the process, new U-joints, new brake system, brake lines, hoses, brake linings, wheel cylinders, e-brake cables, rebuilt new master cylinder, springs, front end components etc. the frame was complete sand blasted and refinished in Satin blk. The body was completely stripped to the bare metal and refinished in single stage enamel. Most of these trucks had a 3 piece back window, yet, this model was quite rare having a one piece back window. Complete new window rubbers, new weather strip kit, factory heater was also refinished and is in working condition. the original wood bed was in need of replacing where Red oak was milled off Walton Mt. and all new stainless hardware was used to secure the stainless slats to the bed. Several coats of polyurethane was applied to seal the oak bed. Red oxide primer was used on the cab, doors and fenders and floor before the truck got painted. The original gas tank was removed from behind the seat and reconditioned. Every nut, bolt and screw was replaced or refurbished. The finished product is a 1955 Dodge, Canyon Coral/Antique White, two tone paint. Black painted steel orig. style bumpers, orig. blk. steel running boards, color keyed antique white center grille, restored chrome, Dodge V8 center hood emblem, dual opening hood, cowl vent, single side view mirror, orig. steel style wheels with orig. center caps, side mounted tire. Orig. door handles, orig. tail gate with tail gate chains, orig. style reproduction turn signal lamps with complete new wiring from front to back. The interior coach work is fully restored in Dove Gray. New door panels, seat covers, new seat foam and burlap new headliner with dome light. Restored orig. steering wheel with Aruuuga horn, functional turn signals, beautifully restored dash and instrument cluster, no radio, optional heater, no sun visors, new re chromed rear view mirror. the interior door hardware is original and is in excellent condition. Wipers work well. The truck has a new rubber floor mat. Drive and enjoy! You won't be sorry buying such a piece of history. This rare example is an excellent driver quality restored truck with the 241 V8 cam engine. Priced below market value. Price: $18,900
