Straight from a private collection, this 55 Belair originally came from the western part of MA where it had spent most of its life. Frame off restoration in the late 80s, this Belair had been pampered its whole life, according to the previous owner who had know the car since the 70s. Originally, a 6 cyl, 150 model, then called the utility sedan, being the lowest priced series in the Chevy family. Now, with the correct 265-4V engine, 3 spd, Synchro-mesh trans., with semi floating with Hypoid gears 3.70 to 1 rear axle ratio has become one fine example. The car has an extremely solid body and has gone through a complete frame off restoration with no expense spared. Check out the underside. It has a really solid original look. Floors, trunk, quarters, floor braces and frame are in great condition and appear to be all original. Beautiful paint that still has that high luster to the exterior finish, proper alignment to the fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid. Bright work and stainless that is orig., and looks fantastic. Chrome bumpers, front and rear bumper guards still have that brilliant high quality shine with no flaws noticed. Orig. front grille, rubber stops and bumpers. No sheet metal rubbing or hitting each other, (often seen on older restorations). Replacement windshield, all the other glass is orig. and is considered in super nice condition. Orig. window felts, weather strip was all in excellent condition. Tires are All state 6.70-15" wide white bias ply, with the factory hub caps, all excellent. Orig. correct radio antenna, gas guard. Looking at the over all appearance...you would think the car just got out of restoration! Stored in a climate controlled environment, this car has never seen the rain, nor has it been washed in the past 20 yrs! (according to the previous owner). With ease, the windows roll up and down with the slightest touch, and the doors that open and close just as easy. The interior of the car is completely restored. It is excellent through out with the factory steering wheel (no cracks), high gloss black dash with Belair trim, clock, factory am/fm radio--works perfectly. The coach work, carpet, kick panels, seat side panels, nice and neat under the dash. The heater box is also nicely restored. Heater, horn, dome lights, speedo, dash lights, wipers all work fine. cigarette light and clock are inoperative. Very comfortable seats. The past owner really admired this car. Always kept up with detailing and light cleaning under the hood, as you can see that its restored to the orig. condition except for the battery. Orig. dated Harrison radiator with a bug screen to keep the radiator nice and bug free. The engine is a period 265 V8, 4 barrel carb. which delivered approx. 180hp. the compression was 8.0, ma. torque with 4 barrel carb was 260 @ 2800rpm, normal oil pressure is around 35psi, firing order 18436572 oil canister with oil bath air cleaner, factory intake, carb., exhaust manifolds with the correct Walker dual mufflers gives this car a nice quiet stock sound. The cooling system holds 17 quarts, fuel tank capacity is 16 gals. The trans holds 2 pints of 80/90 gear oil and the rear holds 3 1/2 pints. these cars are very special and need the utmost care and scheduled maintenance, something that was always on top of the last owners list. The vehicle runs extremely well and drives just dreamy! The trunk is spotless with orig. spare tire and jack. This restored, orig. example comes with MA Title, 80,949 indicated actual miles, owner history, orig. sales brochure, 1957 orig. state excise tax slip ($45.68), judging scoring sheets, Chevy Club, Sliver Award scoring 900 points on the car. With a heavy heart and saddened from parting ways, the previous owner explained how this car became a big part of his life. Memories will live on from the past so there can be new ones in the future for someone. I promised the previous owner this car would go to a nice home and continue to be taken care of. Applicants wanted! Price: $34,900
