This 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL is a well-maintained, solid driver in excellent colors. This example looks great in silver over blue, and it's the last year for the desirable Euro headlights and smaller Euro bumpers. The car has been repainted once to a high standard in correct Astral Silver Poly; panels are straight with good gaps. There is no evidence of former accident damage and there are no known rust issues on the topside. Glass, rubber and trim are in nice condition. The underside is original and shows well; floor pans and rockers are solid and the only known rust is one small spot on the right side of the trunk floor (see photos). The hard top is in good original condition and the navy blue canvas soft top is nearly new. The interior shows very well; seats have been reupholstered in MB-Tex; carpet and door panels are in very good original condition. Wood sections of the dash are also in nice shape, although there are some minor cracks in the upper dash pad. Gauges are clear and working with the exception of the clock; all heater and a/c controls are also working properly and the a/c blows cold. The stereo has been updated to a modern AM/FM/CD unit with both aux input and USB. An attractive Nardi wood steering wheel is a nice finishing touch; the factory wheel is included. This example has been well-maintained and we have service records dating back to 1996; all service is up to date. Within the last year the car has seen a new starter, alternator and battery and a full tune-up and ignition system service (including new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, ballast resistors and ignition control unit). The car starts, runs and drives beautifully. Transmission shifts are sure and smooth; steering and brakes feel great. The engine feels strong and has good oil pressure at hot idle. It's a two-owner car that has been in Georgia and North Carolina since new.
