1953 Buick Skylark Convertible. Outstanding! This is a true investment grade automobile. General Motors Motorama Dream Car. The Skylark was designed by General Motors Designer Ned Nickles, the project started as a personal project to customize his 1951 Roadmaster. However one day Nickles" boss Ivan Wiles saw the drawings and liked the idea so much it was built as a show car. It was added to the Motorama line up for 1953 which included The Cadillac Eldorado, Buick Skylark, Oldsmobile Fiesta and Chevrolet Corvette. This Skylark is an exceptional original automobile with preservation work where necessary. The Skylark was built to celebrate the Fiftieth Anniversary of Buick. A special automobile by design Buick would only produce 1,690 examples. The original cost of this Skylark when new was a staggering $5,562.78. It was purchased by Mr. A.C. Sibilsky of Battle Creek Michigan for his wife Mary. Mrs. Sibilsky understood she had a very special automobile, as the incredible care from new is evident throughout. Today the odometer only shows 44,000 miles. Finished in striking Mandarin Red with a Power operated Black cloth top. The interior is finished with Red and White Leather. The Checker pattern di noc decal on the dash is original and outstanding. Many standard features on Skylark were luxuries on other automobiles of the time. Skylark was powered by the 322 Cubic Inch 188 horsepower “Nailhead' V-8 engine. Twin Turbine Dynaflow Transmission. Skylark shared the Roadmaster"s 121.5 inch wheelbase chassis. Standard features included Power Brakes. Power Steering. Power Windows. Power Seat. Power Antenna. Foot controlled Selectronic AM Radio. Power Convertible Top. Kelsey-Hayes Chrome Wire Wheels with Wide White Wall Tires. The wheel wells of Skylark were painted white to contrast the body and further enhance the appearance of the wire wheels. Automatic Foot Starter. Working Clock. Autronic Eye. Windshield Washers. Continental Spare Tire with foot operated release. The Skylark was only planned to be built for one year, but Harley Earl Head of Design for General Motors liked the car so much it was continued. 1950"s General Motors Luxury at its absolute finest. Ready to Drive, Show, and Enjoy. Call Pete or Andy Price: $250,000
