1973 Porsche 911S VIN,467 original miles Original engine and transmission Original Interior Comes with books, tools, jack, and spare Preservation award candidate This 911S was a special order car first sold on October 14, 1972. Its first owner was Jackie Marsh, the wife of mid-western Porsche distributor Don Marsh. One of the benefits of being married to a Porsche insider was the chance to get a car in a special color. At her request the 911S was painted at the factory in a fantastic shade found in 356s called Champagne Yellow, which it still wears today. Another benefit of her relationship was that she was able to get a new Porsche every couple of years. So this 911S stayed with her for little over a year before it was replaced with a new car. The next owner was F. Eugene Wirwahn of Powell, Ohio. He would own the car until May of 1977 when he sold it to John Fergus of Lewis Center, Ohio. Over the next two years Fergus would drive the car regularly, but and as the years passed it was driven less and less, and finally stored. Today the car has only 54,412 original miles on the clock. It still retains it original engine and transmission, along with its original books, tools, jack and spare. The engine was rebuilt at 40,000 miles as a precaution due to its age. Since arriving at Canepa the car has experienced what can only be called a preservation restoration and service. With such an amazing, original, low mileage car a complete restoration was unnecessary. The car needed to be freshened in order for it to return to the road, and this being Canepa, that freshening took on a whole new dimension. The engine and transmission were removed, cleaned, painted, resealed, and reinstalled with new mounts. The engine was taken down to long block to ensure that every component was checked, cleaned and if necessary refinished. All the fuel lines and hoses were removed and replaced. While the engine was out the flywheel was turned and a new clutch assembly fitted. Finishing off the engine compartment is a beautifully refinished factory exhaust system, and new firewall material. No stone was left unturned. Next up were suspension and brakes. All the suspension hardware and brake tins were pulled from the car and correctly replated. New Koni shocks were installed. All the suspension components were powder coated. New bushings were installed all around, and the CV axles were rebuilt. In the brake department the front and rear calipers were rebuilt and replated; new wheel bearing installed, and new brake pads at all four corners. On the refinished original wheels a new set of Michelin XWX tires were fitted. While all of this mechanical work was going on the chassis was hand cleaned, taking care to preserve all of the original finishes. New seals were installed for the windows, doors and hood. While the windows were out the paint was wet sanded, buffed and hand waxed to bring it to a show quality luster. The interior is original and like new. All of the gauges were removed cleaned and serviced. The heater system was rebuilt including the valves. The shifter and linkage was all rebuilt. All the controls were checked and all systems are fully functional. After over 600 hours of work the car was reassembled, tuned, detailed again, and road tested. Now that it is ready to be presented in our showroom the preservation restoration represents a total of 767 hours of work, all performed here at Canepa. Few 911Ss exist that can compete with this one. A rust and accident free, original car in a special order color, with low mileage, its original interior, renewed to a concours level of fit and finish, and fully mechanically serviced.
