Some cars are just born nasty and you can tell that this '73 Camaro Z/28 was a no-holds-barred machine from the moment it rolled off the assembly line. Today it's a numbers-matching Z that's been taken to the next level thanks to a stunning paint job a snarling small block and a ton of attitude. To answer your first question yes this is a real Z/28 since the 1973 trim tag includes the Z28 option code on all authentic cars and the 75 B paint code is Medium Red without stripes. But no new car in 1973 not even a stock Camaro ever looked this good. There's a ton of time and money tied up in the bodywork which includes the original flat surface hood hood and 3-piece rear spoiler and it's shocking how clean and sleek this car looks particularly for the era. 1973 was the last year for the wide mouth RS grille and separate bumperettes up front and it's a look that many Camaro enthusiasts seem to prefer so it was all restored to stock condition with a blacked-out grille and beautiful fresh chrome. The paint is two-stage urethane that simply glows with a mile-deep shine and reproduction badges that tell you just enough about the car to make it intimidating on the street. Remember when I mentioned that this car was special from the start? Dig the big pile of options inside this one including power windows factory A/C and a tilt column. The black bucket seats were beautifully restored to stock condition there are new carpets on the floor and the door panels are simply too nice to be original. All the original gauges are still in the dash augmented by burled walnut appliques that were for some unknowable reason standard equipment on just about every car GM built in 1973. The shifter for the numbers-matching TH400 3-speed automatic underneath is standard Z/28 fare but the Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash is a user-friendly upgrade that's much appreciated. In back the trunk is quite clean and includes a fifth SS wheel what may be an original Firestone bias-ply tire and correct jack assembly. This Z also walks the walk compliments of its original numbers-matching 350 cubic inch small block V8. Even built to completely stock specs and carrying all its original numbers-matching equipment (carb intake heads etc.) it's still a formidable performer on the street. Nicely detailed using Chevy Orange paint on the block finned Z/28 valve covers and a shiny air cleaner it delivers impressive performance despite the reputation this time-period has for tepid performance. Underneath it is exceptionally clean with original floors and out back a set of 3.42 gears in the original 12-bolt housing help deliver neck-snapping acceleration. The suspension has just the right rake giving the car a predatory stance and the soundtrack is compliments of a Flowmaster exhaust system. Finishing it off are those gorgeous 15-inch factory SS wheels wearing fat 235/60/15 BFG radials that are a big performance boost over that Firestone bias-ply. This brilliant Camaro is one '70s muscle car that delivers on the promises its looks make and more. The numbers-matching powertrain is merely icing on an already very appealing cake. Call today!
