Who wouldn't want a snarling race-bred piece of vintage muscle that is arguably the best-looking car to ever wear the blue oval? This real-deal G-code Boss 302 with a stout 302 an authentic look and all the performance you'd expect from one of the most storied ponies ever. When you dream of a Boss 302 it wouldn't be surprising if you pictured a code 9 Bright Yellow since it was the most popular choice. However when you're talking Boss 302s especially 1969 Boss 302s popular doesn't necessarily mean common since only 649 were built. Not a trailer queen which is really the best thing about the Boss this one still looks amazing and will draw a crowd everywhere it goes just based on the legend. The sportsroof bodywork is super straight the paint has a brilliant shine and the distinctive Boss 302 graphics are just the way Larry Shinoda intended. It's put together the way Ford did it in 1969 and includes chin and decklid spoilers rear window slats and no shaker hood which didn't come along until 1970. It sits right looks nasty and has great details like the bright chrome bumpers blacked-out grille with wide-set headlights and the classic Mustang three-element taillights. A Boss 302's interior is all about getting business done which means two bucket seats a 4-speed Hurst and a fold-down rear seat that can carry your race tires to the track. Finished with new seat covers black carpets door panels and a bunch of other gear that looks awesome and duplicates the original look it's classic Mustang that works. Oddly enough a tach was optional on the Boss so this one sports a column-mounted Sun tach to keep an eye on the 302 under the hood which is capable of spinning 6000 RPM. The original AM/FM radio remains in the dash and it was a somewhat unusual option for 1969 but certainly welcome here in 2013. You also get a nicely detailed trunk with a correct mat space-saver spare and exactly zero rust. The engine is a correct 4-bolt main Boss 302 V8 and while the factory-issued gear was plenty potent this one has a few tricks that make it a legitimate threat on the street even today. With 11.5:1 TRW forged pistons and a custom Crower cam it cackles like a full-race piece but starts easily and is happy to drive around town all day. There's an 800 CFM Holley double-pumper up top and the heads and intake are genuine Boss components that were designed for speed by the smartest go-fast guys at Ford. It's backed by the famous Toploader 4-speed with a Ram clutch keeping it hooked up and a 9-inch full of 3.50 gears on a Track-Lok limited slip which was standard equipment on the Boss. Then there's the ground-hugging suspension which hunkers down and gives the Boss and awesome look and the cackling dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers that sound like the back straight at Watkins Glen. Gorgeous Magnum 500 wheels spin 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. With prices on the move drivable Boss 302s are going to become an endangered species. So if you value the road more than the show field perhaps this is the Boss you've been waiting for. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
