Are 1973 Buicks collectable? Well the argument is pretty convincing with this incredible 9729 original mile 1973 Regal coupe. A spectacular survivor this car is an incredibly well-preserved time capsule that reminds us that even in the dark days of the OPEC oil embargo Buicks were pretty cool cars. What you're looking at is a window back to 1973 with a car that still looks pretty much like it would have a few weeks after rolling off the dealer's lot. The code 26 Mediterranean Blue still pops on the crisply shaped Buick bodywork and there's simply no modern paint or paint technique that can duplicate vintage factory enamel. The soft shine looks completely right on the car offering a soft glow that's a joy to see in person still plenty reflective and with deep rich color that's unaffected by four decades of time. And while the Century Regal was one of the more sporty offerings that year it wasn't overt about it so no stripes or even badges just that sweeping front fender line that's reminiscent of the stunning 1942 cars that defined Buick styling for decades. A gray vinyl top is an interesting (and rare!) choice against the blue paint giving it a subtle sleek almost monochromatic look but that's exactly how it was delivered from the factory. The top itself is in great shape with no major signs of damage and that's all factory chrome that still shines up brilliantly. The black interior offers first-class accommodations with handsome pleated seats warm-looking faux wood trim and a wrap-around dash. The seats themselves are in outstanding condition with only the most minor signs of use and no rips or tears and with so few miles I bet the back seat has only been used a handful of times. The carpets are also excellent protected by aftermarket rubber mats and the door panels don't even show a little depression where someone's elbow might have rested. The instruments are remarkably bright and crisp offering a sporty look that neatly bridges Buick's sport/luxury mission. It's not real heavy on options (why are survivors always stripped-down like this?) but there is a factory AM radio and a clock and you have to admit that even the base Buick looked pretty darned ritzy in 1973. The trunk is quite impressive sporting an original mat and what is quite likely the original spare tire that's never been down. The 350 cubic inch V8 is only just broken in with 9729 miles on it and thanks to the durability of the Buick small block it runs great today. Buick was still painting engines Dante Red in 1973 so that's factory engine enamel in there original decals on the air cleaner and aside from routine maintenance items everything is as-installed four decades ago. Even the factory AIR injection system is intact. It starts easily with a notably smooth idle and the hushed exhaust sounds about right for a Buick. A TH350 3-speed automatic feeds torque to the original rear end and future restorers will be grateful to have this car's chassis as a road map for their restorations. In the meantime it's a shoo-in for preservation class trophies. Heck even those 205/70/14 blackwall radials look right although they're not the original tires (thankfully). Amazingly the original tires are still available with this car and are included in the sale! Fully documented with the original warranty card owner's manual and a bunch of other paperwork this is an affordable car that will always attract more than its fair share of attention. Call today!
