When a car is right you can tell just by looking at it. Given the predatory stance on this 1969 Chevelle SS396 there's no question the guys who built it did their homework. Although the build sheet wasn't retained it is a V8 Sports Coupe now packing a thundering 396 cubic inch V8 and a flashy restoration with a few upgrades that make this one stand out from the pack. It's not the original color but this Chevelle now sports a coat of brilliant yellow with black side stripes that emphasize the gentle arc of the Chevelle sheetmetal not to mention the super-aggressive rake. It's brighter than Butternut Yellow and close to Daytona Yellow but whatever you want to call it it looks awesome. This Chevelle looks like it's had its skin stretched tight over its chassis and the excellent fit of the panels and professional prep give it a high quality appearance that'll show well on Friday nights at your favorite hangout spot. There's a correct blacked-out SS grille up front proper SS 396 badges on the flanks and brilliant chrome bumpers fore and aft. Overall the look is extremely impressive particularly if you're a fan of yellow like I am. The black bucket seat interior has been restored using new seat covers fresh carpets new door panels and a replacement headliner not to mention all the other small detail pieces that are so tough to track down. Although this Chevelle has been driven and enjoyed since it was completed the still presents very well with only minor signs of use on the soft parts. A correct SS dash with round gauges is augmented by white-faced auxiliary temperature oil pressure and voltage gauges mounted down low and at an angle which makes them easy to see. The center console proudly carries a horseshoe shifter for the TH400 3-speed automatic underneath and the steering wheel is in good shape. In the center of the dash the original radio still does its thing so you know where this car's priorities lie. It's possible that's the original trunk mat in back and a glance back there tells you how thorough the paint job was. Oh and there's also a full-sized spare should worse come to worst. Horsepower is compliments of a thundering 396 inch V8 that has been properly dressed in bright Chevy Orange paint. Situated between the satin black fender wells it looks fairly stock although a few upgrades including a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner aluminum valve covers and long-tube headers that add a few extra horsepower. A Muncie M22 4-speed manages the gears twisting a bulletproof 12-bolt out back. Everything was rebuilt not that long ago and runs well today with loads of big block torque available at any speed and in any gear. Power disc brakes provide sure confident stops and the large diameter exhaust system dumps out through Flowmasters and turn-downs just behind the rear axle. The suspension has obviously been modified using drop spindles and re-arched springs to give it a low mean look. And someone definitely did their homework when it came time to stuff the wheelwells because this one wears modified Rally wheels and 235/60/15 front and massive 295/50/15 rear performance radials. Modified just enough to catch your attention this big block Chevelle puts a unique twist on a timeless classic. Call now! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
