For many more pictures of this 1969 Shelby GT 350 Hertz Rent-A-Racer, please go to . The 1969/70 Shelby"s were more dramatically different compared to the normal Mustang than any Shelby ever built!! Here is how the Shelby and Ford engineers were able to accomplish this goal. The entire front end was made of custom designed fiberglass components. The fenders were longer and much different than the regular steel Mustang fenders. These custom designed fenders also allowed them to totally re-design an entirely new and very aggressive front nose and bumper. They also incorporated air ducts for the front brakes into them. The hood was also longer and used NACA ducts taken from Jet airplane design. These were very functional. There were 5 ducts; 3 to bring in fresh air and 2 that extracted the hot unwanted air out of the engine compartment. The front and rear brakes had cooling ducts mounted in the front fenders and scoops mounted on the rear quarter panels. The front grill was even custom made with the fierce looking Shelby Cobra emblem in the grille. The hood trim and all the fender/grille trim was all specially made for these 69/70 Shelby"s. It was also the first time the Shelby GT 350/500 side stripe was down the middle of the car and not located on the lower body like they had been since 1965. The rear end of these cars is also very unique. The quarter panel extensions are fiberglass as is the trunk lid. The trunk has a very aggressive looking, aerodynamic tail. A special aluminum exhaust collector is located under the center of the bumper. The combination of the dual exhaust and the center exhaust collector makes for a very unique and powerful sound. This particular Shelby serial # 9F02M481984 has a very well documented history and of course is in the Shelby book. We have the DELUXE and the STATISTICAL MARTI REPORT showing how rare this Shelby is. This Shelby is one of the rare Hertz cars and as you can see by the report it is ONE of ONLY 5 made like this Shelby. Please also notice how rare it is as a Red exterior with white interior car. Only 15 Shelby GT 350"S were Red/White!!! Obviously this is a very rare car and highly desirable. The number of owners that we can find on the car is only 4 not counting Hertz Corp. It was originally sold new in Nashville, TN, although it spent most or all of its life in Oklahoma. It is possible that there 1 or 2 owners that we do not know about but maybe not. It does appear that from the traceability of the owners that the mileage on the car is really 88,000 original miles. The fact that the interior appears to be all original adds credence to the belief that it is the original miles. I could easily install new front seat covers and a few other minor items to the car but the fact that it appears all original tells me to leave it alone. I am going to leave that up to the person that buys the car to make that decision. As the old saying goes “ You can only have original once' so if you buy the car and you want us to do a few things to the car we will be glad to do so. The paint on the car from what I am told is somewhere around 10 to 15 years old. It still looks very nice and presentable but it is not perfect. The pictures make the paint look better than it is but you would not be hesitant to go to any car show with it. Also, be prepared to get the thumbs up and have people taking cell phone pictures of the car as you are driving it down the road. I cannot stress to you how nice and original this rare Shelby Hertz car is. There was quite a lot of work that was done to the car just to make sure everything was in good safe working condition. All the brakes, suspension, power steering, etc. was checked and basically items that were in not good working order were fixed. The transmission was also checked to make sure it was shifting correctly etc. If there are any questions that I can answer for you please give me a call and I will be glad to answer them for you.
