1949 Ford Custom Coupe for Sale in the Detroit showroom. This 1949 Ford is powered by a 239 CID (3.9 L) Flathead V8 with a 3-speed transmission with Overdrive all with less than 20000 miles since rebuild. The car has had the same owner for over 30 years. This beautiful Ford has been fully restored back to original form except for headers with dual exhaust 6-12 battery and LED taillights. These changes are hidden and have been done for safety reasons. The alternator 6-12 volt battery and radiator have been redone since 2012. With the beautiful cloth interior you can also enjoy a smooth ride and be comfortable doing so. Other opitions include seatbelts updated radial tires with whitewalls and very nice factory hub caps. After sticking with its well-received previous model through model year 1948 Ford completely redesigned its namesake car for 1949. Save for its drive train this was an all-new car in every way with a modern ladder frame now supporting a coil spring suspension in front and longitudinal semi-elliptical springs in back. The engine was moved forward to make more room in the passenger compartment and the antiquated torque tube was replaced by a modern drive shaft. The 1949 models debuted at a gala at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City in June 1948 with a carousel of the new Fords complemented by a revolving demonstration of the new chassis. The new integrated steel structure was advertised as a \lifeguard body\.
