Exclusive practical distinctive and exquisitely designed Edsel Ford’s Lincoln Continental set new standards in design refinement and style which re-defined American automobile design. The long low hood covered rear-mounted spare wheel and teardrop fenders combined with an elegant roofline to create an instant impression that complemented its exclusivity. Interiors featured gold-finished trim and hardware. The original Continental Special Convertible built for Edsel Ford was based on the 1939 Zephyr with later cars based on 1940 chassis and bodies. The hood and front fenders were lengthened 8 inches the body was sectioned 4 inches and the rear deck substantially modified to integrate smoothly with the exposed rear-mounted spare that is the Continental’s signature styling element. Each was handbuilt and by the end of the 1940 model year just 404 units 350 cabriolets and 54 coupes had been assembled the most rare of all Continentals save the war-shortened 1942 models. This 1940 Lincoln Continental is an unusual and attractive survivor or that original production run 1940 model year. Finished in black it has deep red leather upholstery and interior trim and a black cloth vacuum-operated folding top. Equipt with a 3-speed manual transmission wide whitewall tires and a radio. It is a beautifull car that runs and drives very well. There were only 350 1940 Lincoln Continental Cabriolets and this is a rare opportunity to acquire one that is simply gorgous. Price: $79,500
