Talk about a lot of truck for not a lot of money! Someone clearly spent a great deal of effort making this 1979 GMC 1500 shortbed look this good from the cool Shamrock Green paint to the inviting interior. There's absolutely no way you could duplicate this truck for the asking price and good luck finding a rare regular cab short bed in such great condition. Most of these trucks ended up working for a living but judging from the looks of this one it was never a tradesman's work vehicle or someone's beater. Instead it's a very clean solid truck with a lot of nice upgrades that make it ideal for local shows and cruise nights. The paint is most definitely attention getting and has been well-applied over some very straight bodywork. All the original stainless trim is in place and looks great as does the front bumper and grille. Modifications are limited to the chrome bed rails which are both useful and stylish and the contrasting gold pinstripe adds a bit of elegance. There's also a rubber mat in the bed so this hauler is still ready to um haul. Inside a custom green fabric interior has been stitched to cover up the truck's working class bones. The original bench seat has been re-covered recently and includes a matching center console that's useful as well as comfortable. The dash is full of bright crisp gauges and this GMC carries a longer-than-usual list of options including A/C cruise control and a tilt wheel. Entertainment has been given an upgrade thanks to a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette stereo which still uses the original knobs. The only giveaways that this truck wasn't originally green are the door panels and dash pad which are original but still in excellent condition. Under the hood you'll find a 305 cubic inch V8 that looks quite stock in every possible way. The factory air cleaner feeds the stock carb so it starts and runs like it should and will be a reliable partner for decades to come. You'll also notice that the factory A/C that has been converted to R-134a and the block is neatly dressed in blue enamel that's fairly recent. Behind the engine is a TH350 3-speed automatic that is part of an exceptionally clean undercarriage. The exhaust features a new stock-style muffler so it's quiet on the road but still has a bit of a V8 rumble. It rides on 15-inch Rally wheels with 235/75/15 white-letter radials. Look at the details throughout this truck and then take another look at the price tag. As we said this is a lot of truck for the money and you would be hard-pressed to find another one this clean. With great features like A/C and that inviting interior it's a truck you can comfortably drive cross-country and the timeless shape will always be popular.
