In '68 GM decided to give the Chevelle a big facelift starting what is arguably the most popular line of muscle cars and there's no question they got it right. The car was given a light restoration a few years ago to freshen things up. Bodywork is excellent throughout with great gaps and a smooth finish thanks to decades spent in sunny California. The back seat also sports new seat covers and new black carpet was installed throughout the passenger compartment. Factory A/C is a great upgrade but it shouldn't be too surprising considering where the car came from and the big 396 doesn't seem to mind. The radio is a new AM/FM/CD unit feeding speakers in the package shelf. In back the completely clean trunk offers a replacement mat a jack assembly with full-sized spare tire on an original steel wheel. The engine is the original 1968 396 cubic inch big block. Nicely detailed it shows almost no signs of use and will show well at the local cruise night. Chevy Orange covers the block while original-style chrome valve covers and open-element air cleaner with proper decals provide a little eye candy. As I mentioned there's factory A/C with original components and efforts were made to duplicate factory finishes and markings throughout the engine bay. That potent big block is ably supported by a TH400 3-speed automatic turning a durable 12-bolt rear. Showing signs of clean living the chassis is clean and straight and has been given a light coat of undercoating to help manage sound and heat. The exhaust system makes that unmistakable big block sound and terminates in chrome tips under the rear bumper. The suspension is stock the brakes have been rebuilt and it rides on a set of great-looking 15-inch Rally wheels wearing 255/60/15 BF Goodrich T/A radials.
