This 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 is an exceptional frame-off restoration just imported from the U.K. The truck has been very nicely updated with all new interior, new grille, new wheels and new suspension -- but it retains its original 2.5 liter turbo diesel making it legal in all 50 states. It underwent a nut-and-bolt restoration less than a year ago; a portfolio of the work, including photos, is available upon request. This D90 is on a clear Georgia title and comes with a certified copy of its U.K. factory record and all U.S. CBP, DOT and EPA import approval documents. These aluminum-bodied Defenders are notorious for being wavy and having poor gaps, but this example is among the best from the era we have seen. Paint quality is excellent, and the truck has a great updated look thanks to the new-style grille, headlights and wheels. All seals, weatherstripping and rubber are new. The front skidplate and side rocksliders were added during the restoration. The underside is rock solid -- the frame was sandblasted to bare metal and undersealed with waxoyl. There is no known rust evident anywhere on the truck. The interior features new Britpart seats and center console, a new headliner, sun visors and dash pad, new seat belts and new molded rubber floor coverings. The steering wheel and dash face are in excellent original condition. A new AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input and USB is fitted in the dash. There are so many new components inside that this D90 looks, feels and smells brand new. All gauges, switches and indicators are working properly. Under the hood is the original 2.5 liter turbo diesel mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It starts and runs very well and both the clutch and gearbox feel great. With power steering and power disc brakes, it's quite civilized to drive on city streets -- and utterly unstoppable off road. It will also cruise comfortably at highway speeds. This D90 has all new shocks and springs with a 40 mm lift (that equates to a very subtle 1.5 inches over stock). Tires are brand new (with matching spare). Mileage, at just under 83,000 miles, is believed to be correct. We have service records dating back to 1996. The overall effect is a no-excuses, very impressive Defender with incredible attention to detail and build quality. If you can find a nicer one for the money, buy it. Rear jump seats and speakers available at reasonable cost. We welcome you or your inspector. Domestic and international shipping available.
