1973 Porsche 911T Targa VIN ngine No: 6133160 Transmission No: 7331946 Exterior Paint: Vipergrun or Emerald Green 3810 Interior: Black Leatherette 16 Original paint and interior 34,000 original miles Preservation award candidate Factory 911S options On October 22, 1973 Jack Good of Riverwoods, IL traded in his 1970 911E for a new 1973 911T Targa. Shoreline Porsche in Winnetka, IL gave him $5500 for his trade-in towards the total price of $10545.50. The Targa was Emerald Green and featured 6 911S wheels, factory 911S front spoiler, and 911S suspension. Also of note is that this is a late 1973 model, so it has the Bosch K-Jetronic Continuous Injection System (CIS). Its next recorded owner, Graham Loynd or Richland, WA sold the car to Ken McAllister of Yakima, WA in September of 1987 with 10,880 miles on the odometer. We have documentation of McAllister taking the car in for its 10k service later that month. McAllister would sell the car in August of 1990 with 11,729 miles on clock, and the Targa would move through a succession of owners over the next 5 years covering only a few more thousand miles. It received a major engine service in May of 1993 at 15,145 miles. The next long-term owner, Marv Galante, would acquire the car in July of 1995. He would take care of the 911T for the next 18 years. In those ensuing years Galante would put on only another 17,000 miles, and keep great records of its maintenance and use. Since arriving at Canepa the car has experienced what can only be called a preservation restoration and service. With such an amazing, original, low mileage car a complete restoration was unnecessary. The car needed to be freshened in order for it to return to the road, and this being Canepa, that freshening took on a whole new dimension. The engine and transmission were removed, cleaned, painted, resealed, and reinstalled with new mounts. The engine was taken down to long block to ensure that every component was checked, cleaned and if necessary refinished. The distributor was rebuilt, and all the fuel lines and hoses replaced. While the engine was out the flywheel was turned and a new clutch assembly fitted. Finishing off the engine compartment is a beautifully refinished original exhaust system, and new firewall material. No stone was left unturned. Next up were suspension and brakes. All the suspension hardware and brake tins were pulled from the car and replated. New Koni shocks were installed. All the suspension components were powder coated. New bushings were installed all around. In the brake department the rear calipers were replaced, the fronts rebuilt and replated; new wheel bearing installed, and new brake pads at all four corners. On the original wheels a new set of Michelin XWX tires were fitted. While all of this mechanical work was going on the chassis was hand cleaned, taking care to preserve all of the original paint. New seals were installed for the doors and hood. Finally the original paint was hand polished to bring it to an as-new luster. The interior is all-original and like new. Being stored indoors its entire life there is no UV damage or any evidence that this car was exposed to the elements. After over 500 hours of work the car was reassembled, tuned, detailed again, and road tested. A total of 634 hours of work were invested into making this 911T exceptional. There is, without a doubt, no 911T Targa like this one. A wholly original car, with documented low mileage, rust and accident free, with its original paint and interior, renewed to a concours level of fit and finish, and fully mechanically serviced. Currently the car has just over 34,000 original miles. It comes with a binder of service records going back the 1980s, its original sales documents, books, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
