The original owner of this 2429 original mile 1996 BMW Z3 probably paid a hefty premium over sticker price for the privilege. Debuting in the James Bond film Golden Eye the first year's production Z3 sold out before the first one was even delivered. Yeah they were that popular. That mileage figure is legit backed up by clean CarFax and AutoCheck documentation and up close you'd never doubt it. The bright red paint is like new and remarkably has never seen water-not in the rain not from a hose never! As a result it's bright shiny and the clearcoat is well crystal clear. The red is plenty bright just right for a 2-seat roadster and for many enthusiasts who just haven't warmed up to the latest Z4's styling it looked exactly right. The bulldog front end sweeping hood and compact rear deck are classic proportions with a Bavarian twist. Front and rear bumpers are neatly integrated into the design and show no signs of parking lot scuffles steep driveway aprons or excessively tall curbs. In truth this car was someone's baby a dream car that was a once-in-a-lifetime purchase and was treated as such its entire life. In typical BMW fashion the interior is a nearly perfect environment for the serious business of driving. The black leather buckets are supportive but not confining the steering wheel fits into your hands naturally and the shifter is placed just inches away for spirited driving. The pedals are perfectly placed for heel-and-toe shifts and speaking of the shifter it's connected to one of the slickest 5-speed manual gearboxes this side of a Miata. The seats show exactly zero wear the carpets have been protected from new by matching floor mats and although this is a life-long Florida car there's no sign that the open roof conspired with the hot sun to cause any UV damage. An aftermarket wood kit was installed which warms up the stark interior quite nicely and the convertible top can be stowed from the driver's seat. There's even a decent-sized trunk in back that'll carry a week's worth of luggage for two. The 1996 Z3 came only one way: with a 1.9 liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine. With 138 horsepower performance is lively and the car feels fast. Thanks to 3-Series underpinnings the Z3's lower curb weight makes for exceptional handling without a ride penalty so if you're looking to have some fun once in a while without paying for it the rest of the time the Z3 is a smart choice. This one has been properly maintained with all services performed according to time not mileage so it isn't some creaky museum piece. Shifting is slick the brakes are powerful and it has a pleasant growl from the stock exhaust system which was tuned to sound just right. Handsome 16-inch alloys are completely unmarked and wear new 225/50/16 Toyo radials. If you've always wanted one the rare and highly-sought 1996 edition is probably the Z3 to own and there are likely none available anywhere with lower miles than this. Call today!
