Attention to detail abounds in this exquisite, show-worthy 1949 Dodge Wayfarer Roadster. Clad in correct Island Green, paint quality is excellent and all panels are straight with good gaps. Nearly all of the chrome has been restored (the only exception being the side curtain frames, which are in very good original condition). Glass is excellent. The proper welt fills the seam between the rear fenders and the body and around the windshield frame. The folding top alignment is excellent and the mechanism works smoothly; the top itself is tan canvas and features a glass rear window. The car is currently fitted with a set of period-appropriate Kelsey-Hayes style wire wheels; however, the original steel wheels and hubcaps are included. The interior has also been meticulously restored. Door panels, seat upholstery, carpet, package tray, sun visors and dash have been fully refinished and show as new. All of the gauges are working, including the fuel gauge, speedometer and odometer. The two-piece window curtains are in excellent condition; unobtrusive foam strips have been added to the bottom of the windows to protect the paint on the top edge of the door, but the foam can easily be removed. An eye for correctness continues under the hood, from the rebuilt flathead straight six to the Chrysler-badged generator and oil-bath air filter. The engine compartment is nicely detailed. This example starts, runs and drives beautifully, just as you would expect. This '49 Wayfarer was featured on the lawn at the 2009 Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance -- it would be welcome at any concours or AACA event. It would be impossible to restore a Wayfarer Roadster anywhere close to this standard for the asking price. For more information, please contact Motorcar Studio at . Price: $42,900
