Look into the cool wheels and electric blue paint and you'll see the very definition of summertime fun in this 1967 Mustang convertible. With a host of smart upgrades not the least of which is a 5-speed manual transmission it makes for one of the world's great motoring pleasures. Painted two years ago this pony still looks good from any angle. They shaved some of the emblems and trim filled the holes and let the classic shape speak for itself; quite honestly do you even need badges on a vintage Mustang to know what it is? The finish has a nice shine that will get attention out on the road and if you're into shows a professional cut and buff would really make it sparkle. We know Mustang experts are going to tell us that '67s didn't have quarter panel marker lights so it's important to know that they were added during the build to give the car a slightly custom look and it definitely works. The GT-style fog lamps are a popular addition flanking the corralled Mustang in the grille and the bumpers appear to be freshly chromed or very nice replacement pieces. Classic 3-element taillights make it easy to identify from behind and it's nice to see that they haven't removed any of the details that make these cars such timeless classics. It's just clean and sleek. The handsome tan bucket seat interior is a wonderful contrast to the vivid blue paint and gives the Mustang a classic combination that will always look good. The standard buckets were reupholstered at some point but still look quite good with only minor signs of use. Door panels look almost new and the carpets are in good shape without having that faded look that happens in some convertibles. A fatter 3-spoke steering wheel with a real wood rim gives it a Shelby-esque vibe inside and you already know how much we like the industrial look of a console-free shifter. You'll note that this shifter shows five gears instead of the more familiar three or four and it's linked to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox underneath. But aside from that one low-visibility modification the interior is quite stock right down to the instruments and even the factory radio. The tan power convertible top is newer and offers a sophisticated look that works with the rest of the car and the trunk includes a correct plaid mat and full-sized spare with cover. The 289 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago so it's a strong runner with a torquey demeanor that makes this Mustang a blast to run through the gears. With Ford Blue paint on the block cool wrinkle-finish 289 valve covers and a chrome air cleaner it looks the way '60s muscle should and runs superbly. The 5-speed transmission was rebuilt and installed at the same time and a modern rack-and-pinion steering system replaces the vague factory setup. A glance underneath will reveal new floor pans that were professionally installed along with a lot of new front suspension components and upgraded power front disc brakes. Shiny long-tube headers dump into a great-sounding dual exhaust system with tips just below the rear bumper and with 3.55 gears out back this is an effortless highway cruiser. Big 17-inch Torque Thrust M wheels are modern interpretations of a timeless classic and carry 225/45/17 performance radials all around. Affordably priced this convertible has the look and feel that you've been looking for in this summer's adventure. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
