The truth is the 1978 Corvette Anniversary Editions didn't turn out to be such great investments after all but the upside is that you can get extremely clean original cars that probably do have a future for not a lot of money. This particular Anniversary 'Vette shows just 8728 actual miles and with only routine maintenance items replaced it's a sure-fire bet for preservation classes and collectability. The two-tone Anniversary paint scheme is one of the few products of the '70s that still works well today. Sophisticated yet aggressive it perfectly suits the sleek Corvette. And if you really want a glimpse into what new Corvettes looked like in 1978 this car is an excellent example. The paint has a nice soft shine that's a result of factory enamel not modern urethanes and the fit of the body panels is exactly how they workers on the assembly line were doing it (in truth they were pretty darned good at their jobs). You'll note that the tail cap is a slightly different color than the rest of the body and this is how they were when they were new so don't let anyone call you out on it. The tape stripes that separate the two colors remain firmly affixed to the car's fiberglass skin and the few shiny bits on the car still look like new. This car is as we like to say perfectly imperfect the standard by which all Corvettes are measured. Oyster leather still looks cool inside the Anniversary cars and while it shows a few comfort marks the interior remains in outstanding condition. It's 100Jriginal except for a set of aftermarket floor mats which were a very smart addition considering the light-colored carpets. This particular Anniversary car is loaded with features including power windows and locks A/C a tilt/telescoping wheel and a very appealing AM/FM/8-track stereo the epitome of 1978 hi-fi tech. The gauges all work and look almost new the leather-wrapped wheel is still supple and clean and it's quite possible that the T-tops have never been off the car (although the weather seals are still quite supple). The storage area behind the seats is also nicely preserved and includes the original sun shade and hold-downs for the T-top panels. In 1978 you had two 350 cubic inch engine options with this being the base V8 with 185 horsepower and 270 pounds of torque which interestingly was 10 lb-ft. more than the optional L82. Aside from the fan belts (the originals are actually included with the car!) it's completely original and in remarkable condition. You want authenticity? This is just about as good as it gets with all the factory markings intact and it's a perfect guide for colors finishes and materials. The factory engine enamel looks very fresh there's no signs of corrosion on the plated parts and even the exhaust manifolds show that for the past 35 years this car has been protected from the elements. It still runs and drives quite well with no issues and the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts like it should. The underside is a little scruffy but there's no question about this car's authenticity and originality complete right down to the original exhaust system. Factory aluminum wheels sparkle like they did in the showroom and wear 255/60/15 Goodyear radials with less than 100 miles on them. Survivors are red hot right now and nothing delights Corvette fans more than authenticity. Take this as an opportunity to put an affordable instant classic in your garage. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom. For more information please call or toll free . Price: $19,995
