We have a strong suspicion that the new Camaro will be a future collectable. Cars like this 2011 Camaro RS/SS coupe are the reinvention of the 1969 Camaro and the day will sure come when collectors seek out clean unmolested low-mileage examples. So take this one home have some fun and look forward to tomorrow. Silver looked great on the original Camaro and it looks equally good on the new sheetmetal. Sure it's been elongated pinched and formed to look right in the 21st century but there's no denying what kind of car this is. With only 19627 original miles this gorgeous Camaro has obviously been a cherished toy not a daily driver and it shows everywhere you look. The factory paint is shiny and deep the urethane nose doesn't show the usual nicks and bruises that a daily driver might and the finish glows with the results of hours of hand-waxing. Black SS stripes are an important part of the Camaro look but the overall vibe is subtle and sophisticated and thankfully GM designers didn't feel the need to add spoilers and wings to the clean design. There is a nice trunk spoiler that looks vaguely reminiscent of the original ducktail and they even tried to give it a classic look with the small back-up lamps in the rear valence. Add in a few SS badges and you have one of the most formidable pony cars of the past decade. The Camaro is state-of-the-art performance inside where deeply contoured bucket seats are wrapped in black leather and the deep-dish steering wheel has a trick look that seems like it's too small to hold an airbag (it does!). The deeply recessed primary gauges and console-mounted secondary dials are obviously an homage to the original but all the equipment is modern and fully functional. You need accessories? This Camaro packs gear like ice cold A/C power windows and locks with remote entry cruise control and a very trick heads-up display that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. The seats look virtually unmarked with the back seat in as-new condition and the carpets have been protected since new by floor mats so everything looks pretty much factory fresh. A powerful stereo system can easily compete with the exhaust note and sounds brilliant when you're just cruising. The trunk isn't particularly big or spacious but that's not why you're buying a Camaro but it is still like new and will easily carry your overnight bags. With the 20000-mile factory-recommended service just completed the snarling 6.2-liter all-aluminum V8 is ready to play. Docile around town but ready to bring the thunder with 426 horsepower there aren't many Camaros of legend that can run with this SS. Completely stock and unmodified it starts instantly and runs beautifully thanks to the wonders of modern computer controls and when you let the 6-speed automatic transmission slip into overdrive it actually does pretty well on the highway too. The engine bay is clean enough to pass for showroom new while the undercarriage has no evidence of damage or time spent in a snowy area. Gorgeous 20-inch wheels totally stuff the wheel wells and carry 245/45/20 front and 275/40/20 rear Pirelli P-Zero high-performance radials. Nobody thought the '69 Camaros would be collectable either yet they're some of the most popular cars in our showroom. This Camaro's day will come and in the meantime go out and have some fun.
