This 1996 Ford Ranger was specially constructed during the Speed Channel's "Ride of Honor" TV show where a Marine corporal's aging pickup was dramatically transformed for his return from the Middle East. Built by the pros at Galpin Auto Sports it features a cackling Roush-built small block V8 slick Pre-Runner bodywork and ultra-cool satin paint for a high-tech look. If you'd seen this truck before the transformation you'd hardly recognize it today. With composite fenders with wide flares and oversized wheel arches for the big tires it gives the extended cab Ranger a very beefy look. Fortunately this was a California truck so it didn't need any major surgery beyond the new fenders to get it to look this awesome. It was covered in a very trick satin finish gunmetal gray paint job with bright red stripes to set it all off. Other upgrades include the tubular front bumper with integral skid plate bed-mounted roll bar tire mount a tubular rear bumper and enough lights to illuminate a football stadium all of which are critical for the off-road pre-runner look. As you'd expect the workmanship is first-rate throughout and as a special vehicle with a ton of history behind it it hasn't seen much use since it was completed and presents in show-worthy condition. This is quite likely the nastiest Ranger ever built. The interior got a full makeover too starting with wrapping the stock seats in a combination of gray leather and suede and stitched with red thread for a great high-tech look. New carpets and factory door panels make it feel almost new inside and a set of red-piped floor mats tie it in with the exterior as well. New Auto Meter Carbon Fiber gauges were stuffed into the instrument panel with two additional dials set into the lower half of the center stack. A powerful AM/FM/CD/DVD stereo starts with a custom Kenwood touch screen head unit in the dash and is powered by a set of JL Audio amplifiers behind the seats along with a custom enclosure for the subwoofers. That B&M shifter is linked to a brand new AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission that was professionally built to survive the rigors of duty in this pickup. Those rigors come compliments of a Roush-built 351 cubic inch V8 with 408 horsepower and 400 pounds of torque. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and all the top-flight hardware you'd expect from Roush it runs superbly and makes this lightweight pickup practically fly over the terrain. It's nicely detailed with race-grade components and Roush-logo air cleaner and valve covers although there's no hiding from the giant tires that intrude on the engine bay. It's quite clean and has probably not seen any off-road action since it was built and lest you think this was some quickie build note that there's A/C power steering and power brakes all integrated like the factory intended. Underneath the suspension is heavily modified for more ground clearance and to absorb off-road bumps and jolts and the custom dual exhaust system sounds spectacular particularly coming from a Ranger. Gigantic 305/70/16 Pro Comp all-terrain radials are fitted to black Pro Comp wheels to give it the perfect butch look. A great truck built for a great cause all captured on TV. If a little bit of celebrity status and impressive performance matter to you this truck truly delivers. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
