In 1956 Ford created the Continental Marquee as a premium luxury brand to compete with the likes of Rolls Royce and the Cadillac Eldorado Barritz. With a sticker price of over $10,000 new, these were the most expensive cars available in 1956. Though Ford lost money on each one of these cars sold, some buyers were turned away because they were deemed unworthy of owning one. Ford wanted to ensure that these cars were a status symbol and owners included Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Barry Goldwater, Cecil B. DeMille, R.J. Reynolds, Bill Harrah, Bill Rockefeller and the Shah of Iran. This is a 1956 Continental Mark II in rare light blue with blue and marbled gray leather interior. This car was first sold new in California and spent all it's life in California until it was shipped to new mexico for a few years, then here Arizona. Regarded as one of the most beautiful American designs of the 1950's, this car is an icon of American style and Luxury during the golden age of automotive design. Not only is this car truly unique in that it's a Continental Mark II, but additionally it was a special order color combination that I have yet to come across one like it. Over half of these cars that were made were white, making this particular one that much more rare Price: $35,000
