Immediately following the war there was a dire shortage of new cars and trucks rolling out of factories so service departments did the next best thing by refitting pre-war trucks with new bodies and put them back in service. This very cool and extremely unusual 1937 Ford utility truck was probably used by the phone company to service rural customers and today makes one heck of a trick rod that'll be the hit of any show it attends. Of course searing orange paint doesn't hurt but the proportions on this truck give it the perfect blend of style and functionality. In 1937 Ford trucks had their own look not merely passenger cars with beds grafted on. With an original steel cab hood and grille augmented by fiberglass fenders it has a classic mid-1930s look that's ready to work. The utility box offers plenty of storage space plus doors on the rear and side for great access to all that cargo area. It has a functional basic look that's appealing to truck lovers which provides an awesome contrast to the bright orange pearl paint. Stand-up headlights the barrel-shaped grille and '39 Ford taillights are period-perfect details as well as the sweeping fenders that look great even with the upright box. If the bodywork is basic and functional the interior is anything but. With two-tone tan and orange ultraleather the passenger compartment is comfortable for daily use. Matching door panels and tan carpets give it a highly polished look while the original dash has been painted to match the bodywork tying it all together neatly. Those certainly appear to be the original gauges sitting in front of the driver augmented by a trio of white-faced gauges in the center of the dash. Vintage Air A/C has been added complete with trick eyeball vents as well as a tilt column topped by a wooden Grant steering wheel. In back the massive cargo bay has been fully upholstered to match so you won't want to be hauling greasy tools in it anymore but it is the world's biggest trunk for long-distance cruises and a lot of practicality for bopping around town. Sitting on a Chevy S-10 frame makes for a very modern driving experience. Power is provided by a 351 cubic inch Ford V8 fed by an Edelbrock carb and intake which is always nice to see in a Ford vehicle. Built to show off with the hood off the engine is nicely trimmed in chrome and billet aluminum with a satin black firewall to set it off. Finned aluminum valve covers bright chrome accessories and bright Ford Blue engine enamel all add up to an engine bay you'll love to leave hanging out there. The transmission is a C4 3-speed automatic with power rack-and-pinion steering and power brakes s part of the package. Classic painted steel wheels give it just the right blue-collar look and wear 215/60/15 front and 235/60/15 rear radials. A neat piece of history and a great-looking truck. Call today!
