Jaguar’s lovely Mark V introduced in 1948 featured torsion bar front suspension four wheel hydraulic brakes and a completely redesigned and lower frame with a 120 inch wheelbase. Power came from a 3.5-liter overhead valve straight-six with twin SU carburetors to deliver 125 horsepower. The superbly designed coachwork was yet another example of William Lyons’ affinity for svelte elegant styling and the three-position drophead coupe is both the most visually pleasing and the most desirable. The Mark V was built only until 1951 and this 1950 left-hand drive example chassis 647046 is one of just 977 drophead coupes. It is in need of a complete restoration but is a fundamentally sound and complete example. The only substantial rust is found above the running boards and other than a dent in the left front fender the body is fairly straight. This will be a substantial project but also a relatively straightforward one that will be both gorgeous and highly collectible when finished. Price: $39,500
