1957 Jaguar XK140 SE Coupe In 1949 Jaguar introduced the XK120 to the public at the London Motor Show. This stunning new car caused a sensation and it was not long before the XK 120 was competing successfully in motorsports on a world-wide level. Fresh from their victories at Le Mans Jaguar used their racing successes to improve their original design and in 1965 the XK140 replaced the original model, still utilizing the six cylinder twin overhead camshaft 3.5 liter engine. The 140 utilized the same basic body structure, but offered several upgrade features including full width bumpers, increased space in the driver footwell and rack and pinion steering. The overall interior space was increased by moving the engine, firewall and dashboard 3 inches forward. The car we are offering is a 1957 S (Special Equipment) coupe version, a car with equally stunning lines and the advantage of comfortable year round driving. The car comes with a Heritage certificate and is a matching numbers vehicle. This car was delivered to its original owner in Lemon Grove California in early 1957. After passing through a second ownership in California it was acquired by the current owner in 2003 from a dealer, Classic Showcase, in California. The car was brought back East and a substantial amount of work was done to update the car and improve its performance. The car being an SE model had a factory installed “C' type cylinder head, bumping the HP to 210. The car was sent out for installation of a Guy Broad power steering kit and replacement of door hinges. The entire interior of the car was replaced including new seat leather, carpets and all door cappings and dashboard wood refinished. The gear box was replaced with a 5 speed manual to give the car better high speed cruising. Being a California car, the underside was virtually rust-free and required little attention. The end result of all this work is a high performance thoroughbred suited to spirited highway driving or possibly events such as the New England 1000 or Copper Beach 1000. It is not every day that such a great car comes to market at a realistic price. $90K Price: $90,000
