1973 Volvo P1800ES Sports Wagon Chassis No. 1 58 Lifelong California "Blue-Plate" Car Beautifully Restored with Recent $10,000 Servicing Complete with Original Books, Spare and Jack Assembly One of the Finest Examples on Offer An absolutely stunning design by Pelle Petterson in 1957, the P1800 coupe was brought to market in 1961. After years of successful sales, a revision was in order. Inspired by the Radford-designed Aston Martin Shooting Brakes, a flat rear combined with continuous side windows gave the 2+2-seater a more dynamic stance. The outcome was not only increased luggage room, but a more comfortable cabin. Just over 8,000 examples of the estate were built in its production years of 1971-73. Delivered new on November 22, 1972 to Jorge Armas of Downey, California, this solid lifelong California car is a particularly exceptional example of what is considered one of the most graceful Volvos ever produced. A design so prevalent, aspects can still be seen in its modern counterpart. Beautiful styling coupled with impossibly rugged mechanicals, the P1800 model is very easy to maintain and in fact holds the record for the highest recorded mileage in a non-commercial vehicle. Light blue over tan leather upholstery, the Volvo displays an excellent fit and finish throughout, certainly once of the nicest P1800s we have ever come across. Beautiful paintwork compliments the matching brightwork, vented steel wheels and clear Volvo glass all-around. The cabin is upholstered in soft leather with matching suede inserts and plush edged carpeting. With ample luggage space, the P1800ES really can be a sensible, practical classic sports car - air conditioning and a 4-speed manual transmission are ideal for the touring experience. The sporty estate with its durable four-cylinder, Bosch fuel injected engine is very nicely presented in its bay. A comprehensive and entirely thorough servicing was just completed in May of 2013 to the tune of $10,000 with accompanying records. All mechanical and electrical auxiliaries were also addressed during the light restoration, resulting in a superbly well-performing car. Offered with its original Protect-O-Plate and ALL factory original booklets and manuals in pouch, spare assembly, jack/crank and a number or recent serving receipts. Here is an opportunity to acquire a stunning and fully serviced Sports Wagon ready to show or tour right out of the box - We strongly encourage a closer inspection of this honest California "Blue Plate" P1800ES.
