1957 VOLKSWAGEN BETTLE DELUXE SUNROOF TYPE 1 $31,995.00 This is a pretty amazing little Volkswagen, it is just simply stunning to look at and being a 1957 it is the last year for the small oval back window. This example was built March 5, 1957 and left Wolfsburg on March 16, 1957 arriving in the USA August 3rd, 1957. Having received a very thorough restoration a number of years ago the paint and interior are still superb. Mechanically it has a stock 36 horsepower 1200 cc engine that was completely rebuilt. It has a fully opening sunroof, a working original style AM radio, wide whitewall tyres and the ever so cool, made by Bambus from Munich, parcel tray below the dash along with period Coco floor mats. The only changes made from stock were a 12 volt conversion utilizing a late Porsche 356 generator with a dummy 6 volt regulator on top and the 12 volt regulator under the seat allowing the engine bay to look stock. Additionally a Joe “Mr.Okrasa' Ruiz reproduction Abarth twin pipe muffler was fitted although we do have the original style with it. This car was featured in the magazine VW trends January 2004.
