1954 Jaguar XK 120 Fixed Head Coupe Registration No. 450 AML (Original first registration number). ?Chassis No. 669094. Right Hand Drive. William Lyons wanted a brand new sports car to replace the SS100 and to take on the competition of the likes of Ferrari and Aston Martin. The car that the design team at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant came up with was the legendary XK120, so-named for its advertised maximum speed of 120mph. The 120 was manufactured by Jaguar between 1948 and 1954, the companies first post-war sports car. The XK120 was first launched in roadster or “Open Top Sports' form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a test bed and show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a sensation, which persuaded William Lyons to place it into production. The closed or "fixed-head" coupé (FHC) was manufactured from 1951. Our Jaguar was supplied new in January 1954 by Henley"s of London to Mr RG Lamont of Norwich. We understand that the car has had only 5 previous owners in the last 54 years prior to our company acquiring the car in 2008. Original registration book dated 1st January 1954 supplied with the cars history file together with Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. This unique and beautifully restored car incorporates the most desirable upgrades whilst keeping the character and integrity of the original car. The owners brief was to create a car which could be driven over long distances on all major European tours and road events etc. Modifications and upgrades include: • High performance Jaguar 3.8 Litre engine with an E Type sump, 9-1 pistons, high capacity oil and water pumps, upgraded head and SU “2' carburettors. • 5-Speed Getrag Gearbox. • Rack and Pinion with Electric Graduated Power Steering. • Disc Brakes front and rear with Twin Servos. • Adjustable Sport Bucket Seats. • Pedal Box Modified for Comfort and Improved Driving Position. • Uprated Exhaust System • Front Anti Roll Bar with Rear Shock Absorbers Converted to Telescopic • Upgraded Steering Wheel • Electric Choke The body restoration used a majority of new panels from Jaguar Classic Parts and it was painted by Highstone Restorations Ltd / Guy Broad (Jaguar) and final modifications by REALM Engineering and XK Developments, four of the UK"s leading restoration companies specializing in Jaguar"s. This is a unique and wonderful example of the ultra-attractive 120 FHC with the finest restoration, attractive and usable upgrades so as to enjoy this car to the full. This car represents remarkable value for money for the time and effort taken in making this Jaguar a pleasure to drive. £89,995.00
