Buick, established in 1903, is the oldest American automobile manufacturer in existence. This 1953 Buick Roadmaster Skylark Convertible, built in February 1953, was one of 1,690 built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Buick. Retailing for $4,596, nearly a $1,000 more than a Cadillac, this is arguably one of the most collectible Buick models ever made. With a 3 inch shorter windshield and cowl, the Roadmaster stampings were customized and hand fitted using extensive lead filler. Even the seats and steering wheel were lowered to the new door height. The true “wire' wheels required periodic straightening and adjustment. The Delco AM Selectronic radio had the first “seek' feature in a radio design and a foot activated power antenna.
