The name Eldorado as derived from the Spanish words ''el dorado'' which translates to ''the gilded one'' or ''the golden one'' in English. 1952 Cadillac built the first concept El Dorado to mark the manufacturer's golden anniversary. Since insertion to production in 1953, the Cadillac Eldorado sat at the top of the heap of American luxury cars. They symbolized the best America had to offer in automotive design, luxury and performance. They were big and beautiful cars stimulating and sustaining a love affair with luxury for 50 years. The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible offered here has been enjoyed for 86 947 Miles since new. It was purchased new and used as a seasonal vehicle at a second home in Traverse City, MI for many years. Today, this highly optioned Eldorado remains in very nice condition cosmetically and mechanically. The 500 Cubic inch V8 provides plenty of smooth power transferred via its automatic transmission and applied by the cutting edge front wheel drive system. The Commodore Blue metallic paint is excellent still showing a deep gloss and the original blue interior with white leather seats remains very nice showing normal wear for its age and use. The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible was dubbed as the last big American convertible of its time and at the time of America's Bicentennial, these cars were marketed as America's pride. These cars are wonderful to own, relaxing to drive and still remain a solid investment in the collector car world.
