1971 Plymouth Cuda History The 'Cuda option was introduced in 1969 for the last year of the second generation Barracuda. The 'Cuda term was coined on the street similar to the "Goat" for GTO's and the factory tuned in quickly and made it an option for '69. Also for '69 both the Barracuda and 'Cuda shared the same first two digits of the VIN with the Model and Price Line "BH" with B for Barracuda and H for High for both Barracuda and 'Cuda. 1970 brought the introduction of the third generation E-body Barracuda and first generation Challenger. The 'Cuda option continued with the VIN changing to "BS" (Bfor Barracuda and S for Special). The option remained until the demise of the model in 1974. On the other hand the Challenger R/T with VIN prefix "JS" with J for Challenger and S for Special ended with the 1971 model year.
