1964 LOTUS ELAN SERIES 1 The Lotus Elan Series 1 was the first Lotus road car to use the now-famous steel backbone chassis with a fiberglass body. At 1,500 lbs, the Elan embodied Colin Chapman"s minimum weight design philosophy. The Elan was technologically advanced with a DOHC 1557 cc engine, 4-wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and 4-wheel independent suspension. This generation of the two-seater Elan was famously driven by the character Emma Peel on the British television series, The Avengers. This fine example of a Lotus Elan Series 1 is the third oldest 1964 car in the Lotus Elan Registry, with only 15,963 miles on the odometer. The color is a classic British Racing Green with a black interior. The body and mechanicals received a restoration by Automotive Restorations in 2013. The car comes with a new vinyl top, tonneau cover, spare set of wheels and tires, original factory shop manuals and a selection of spare parts. The car is ready for some spirited driving while at the same time offering excellent fuel economy. Price: $39,900. Price: $39,900
