Regarded by many as the best off-road vehicle in the world, the Land Rover Defender has a storied pedigree dating back to 1948 with the introduction of the original Land Rover Series I. Styling is no-nonsense and quintessentially British. Off-road performance is unparalleled. Simply put, it's the best four by four by far. Land Rover stopped importing its utility trucks to the U.S. in 1974 to focus on the upscale Range Rover market. But it did offer the long-wheelbase D110 for one year only in 1993, and offered the two-door D90 in 1994, 1995 and 1997 only; true NAS (North American Specification) Defenders are hard to come by and fetch an exorbitant sum due to their scarcity. But lately we've started to see some 90s and 110s that have hit 25 years old, making them easier to import, register and legally drive in the U.S. This example is a fully restored 1984 Land Rover 110 powered by the desirable 200Tdi turbo diesel engine. It's in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically, with many new parts and choice upgrades. The truck has a fantastic look, clad in Stratos Blue with a white top, black fender flares, black steel wheels and a black Voyager roof rack. Paint is fresh and shows well; when it was restored the grille and most of the trim and rubber were replaced. Lenses and lighting are all new, with most exterior lighting upgraded to LED. The wheels are brand new with new tires; the Voyager rack includes a built-in ladder for easy access to the roof and a shovel securely mounted for the side. The aluminum body panels are in good condition, but more importantly the steel frame underpinning this Defender is in excellent shape. There's no rust and it has been very nicely detailed underneath. The interior is very nice, with new Exmoor seats that look and feel fantastic. All gauges work properly. In the dash is a newer high-end stereo with navigation and multiple speakers for excellent sound quality. Under the hood is Land Rover's highly-regarded 200Tdi turbo diesel mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The truck has been well maintained, with a recent timing belt, water pump, thermostat and radiator. It runs and drives beautifully and needs nothing.
