The 1949 Oldsmobile Futuramic 88 (F88) 2DR Fastback Club Sedan This is a 100Untouched original Survivor with only 57152 actual miles. Nothing has been touched, changed or modified. EVERYTHING is exactly as it was when it left the factory in 1949. It is in incredible condition, especially for its age. It looks great and best of all, runs perfectly in every respect. This multiple NASCAR winning car has been credited as one of the first muscle cars and The First, "King of NASCAR". This car was KING when it all began. In 1949, Oldsmobile brought out the first overhead valve Rocket V8 and the rest was history. The engine in this car, re-wrote history starting with NASCAR winning the NASCAR Championship in 1949 and again in 1950 and 1951. Of the 9 Grand National Championship races in 1949, the F88 won 6 of 9. In 1950 it won 10 of 19 and in 1951 won 21 of 40. The '49 F88 became "the car to beat" until it was finally defeated in 1952 by the Hudson Hornet. The '49 Olds F88 is a true NASCAR champion and a significant part of the American automobile and American racing history. Ironically, we found both, this 1949 Olds F88 and a 1952 Hudson Hornet sitting in a garage in upstate NY. Both have been run occasionally over the past few decades and were well maintained throughout that time. The owner has now decided to pass them on to someone who will enjoy them as he did over the last two decades. (You can see the Hudson Hornet on our website and other related sites where this car is advertised) The interior is immaculate. The odometer reads 57132 miles and is actual. The seats are like new without a single tear. Full Gauges and speedometer/odometer are clear and all work properly. The dash and all knobs & buttons are as good as new. Doors close easily and tightly with that low toned thud that you want to hear. All glass is original and still show the original markings including the year that is stamped on every piece. Even the amazing front split windshield has the original markings on both sides as does the operational vent windows. All windows including the vent windows open & close easily. The trunk has all its original material as well. Features include the large external sun visor over the windshield and the two standard internal visors, clock, AM radio, factory turn signals, floor heater, interior lighting, back-up lights, dual air vents, defogger, washer wiper (wiper motor has been upgraded to electronic). Most features were optional equipment in 1949. Lights & ALL gauges work properly. The engine is a 303ci Rocket V8 pushing 135hp. It is equipped with the famous Hydra-Matic automatic transmission on the column that shifts perfectly. 1949 was the first year for the famous Rocket engine. The engine has the factory original 8A116329 code. The original GM carburetor is clearly marked and still on the car along with the factory oil bath air cleaner. The original 6volt system and original generator get this car started immediately. The ride is incredible. Steering is easy and there is absolutely no pulling at all. Step on the gas and you can feel the response. The idle is smooth and quiet. It stops as it should and needs nothing. This car is easily capable of short and long trips to anywhere in complete comfort for both the driver and passengers. THIS car will be in the upcoming movie "Jersey Boys". A picture of the car in a scene is shown in the last photo. The body is rock solid, 100must free and 100ariginal. Factory Crest Blue paint has faded over the years but still has a nice shine as the pictures will show. Remember, this is not todays 2 stage paint you are looking at. The paint on this car is 65years old and looks great. Overall, the condition is amazing for a 65 years old 100'riginal SURVIVOR car. All chrome and trim are in excellent condition. All badges, hood ornaments and emblems are still on the car and maintain a deep shine with no rust or pitting. SO, whats wrong? As good as it is, there are a few flaws that we would like to point out. All are related to the condition of the paint itself. After 65year, time has taken its toll in some areas. The few flaws are as follows: The There is a small dent that is shown in the photo as well as a few paint chips. All are shown in the last 4 photos of the body shots. One is in front of the car by the drivers side front headlight. Two chips are shown on the passenger side rear fender skirt. There is some mild cracking in a small area just above the rear passenger side fender but it is far from peeling and still in great shape. There is a small dent about 2 inches long (as shown) and a few scratches here and there (also shown). These would typically be easy fixes on any car but because of the unrestored condition of this car, we will not recommend fixing these issues. They are only original once! THERE IS NO RUST anywhere! This piece of automotive history is as good as it gets and should be part of any true enthusiast collection. The value will continually increase as time goes on.. Unrestored Survivors with a significant history such as this, have virtually disappeared and are simply irreplaceable! Those very limited few that do exist are in the hands of incredible collections and rarely come up for sale. You may never see another in your lifetime... The 1949 Olds Futuramic 88 ad read; "The 1949 Oldsmobile 88 is winging your way"! Other slogans were; "Make a Date with a Rocket 88".
