Lee Iacocca and Alejandro DeTomaso reached and agreement on September 9, 1969 to give Ford Motor Company exclusive rights to import and sell the DeTomaso Pantera in North America. In total 5263 Panteras were sold through Ford's Lincoln-Mercury Dealers from 1971 through 1974. Pantera combined the Italian coachwork by Ghia and a mid-engine race car chassis by Dallara. This particular Pantera rolled out of Modena, Italy facility in January 1972 and was delivered to Star Lincoln-Mercury in Southfield, Michigan., Standard equipment includes a 351ci Cleveland 4V engine rated at 310 horsepower, coupled to a ZF 5-speed manual transaxle with a limited slip differential. The suspension consists of 4 wheel independent suspension, coil over shocks, 4 wheel power disc brakes, and rack & pinion steering. The car has air conditioning, power windows, and AM-FM radio., This 35K mile Pantera was purchased in 2010 from the previous owner of 30+ years. The Pantera just finished a complete restoration which included refinishing the exterior in the original factory yellow, rechromed bumpers, and weather-stripping. New seat covers and carpet completed the interior. The original matching number engine was rebuilt and a new ceramic coated exhaust system was added during the restoration. For car show judging the original factory Campagnola magnesium wheels were powder coated and a set of original Goodyear Arriva tires was installed. For driving the car is equipped with 17 inch Campy look wheels but with higher definition CNC work. They are polished to jeweler like quality, with new tires. Wheels are made from 6061-T6 forged aluminum with one piece aluminum spun outer rim. Installed are a set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, rear 335-35-17 and front: 225-45-17, including new lug nuts and Isis emblems. The restoration was performed by Terry Woodcock of Walnut Cove, North Carolina., ., $72,500 negotiable
