***This car is not currently located at Fantasy Junction, but can be viewed by appointment.***,, 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 350 FIA Rally Car, s/n SMF 6S 359, Metallic Blue with White Stripes, Built in February of 1966 and exported as a new car to Ford Advanced Vehicles in the United Kingdom, this GT 350 has spent nearly its entire life in Europe. It was equipped at the factory as a white car with blue stripes, with painted 14-inch magnesium wheels, and an automatic transmission. This car remained a road car in England, then Switzerland, and was subsequently restored in a no expense spared fashion to emulate the FIA spec Shelby GT 350 rally cars of the late 1960s by P&R Zollikon AG in Switzerland. In 2001 this car was purchased by the current owner and imported to the US at that time., With the car comes a significant stack of documentation, including copies of the 1965 FIA Homologation papers for Shelby GT 350s, FIA papers issued in 1992 for this particular car in its current configuration, and the restoration notes in German., As part of the restoration a complete roll cage was fitted, along with competition gauges, seats and belts, pedals, and a cockpit mounted fire bottle. An electronic cut off switch was fitted to the outside of the car, as was an oil pan protection cage, American Racing 15x7 aluminum wheels, and hood and trunk release pins. Tow hooks have been added front and rear., A number of performance upgrades have also been implemented. The car has been lowered slightly, and a larger front sway bar has been added. Exact details regarding the engine rebuild are available in German. Much of the oil, water, and fuel lines have been converted to Areoquip lines, and a massive aluminum radiator has been fitted. An aftermarket exhaust system has been fitted, which exits at the sides in front of the rear wheels. Fiberglass front finders and Plexiglas side windows replace the originals, reducing weight., Cosmetically, the car is in very good condition, fit for any competition event, or casual shows. The repaint was a fairly high quality job, in a color appropriate for a competition Shelby. There are some very minor shade differences between some of the body panels which does not significantly detract from the presentation. There are very few minor paint flaws in the form of rock chips, and no major flaws. The window glass and lenses are all in good condition, and are without any major pitting., The interior is excellent. The dash, seats, door panels, carpet and headliner are all very good to excellent condition, consistent with the exterior, and make a great impression. The spare wheel has been mounted to the rear floor in an effort to centralize the weight between the axles. The roll bar is not a significant hindrance getting in or out of the car., Mechanically, the car has a tight fresh feel. It is stiff and responsive, yet not jarring over bumps. The power is more than sufficient, and the brakes effective. The car tracks straight and is a comfortable cruiser on the freeway. Throttle application through the locked differential is all the more entertaining. The car starts easily and idles smooth with nearly 80 lbs of oil pressure at idle when warm. The current owner has recently installed a racing Center Force clutch which has a progressive travel and is easy to operate on the street., As a true 1966 Shelby GT 350, and pleasantly outfitted for vintage track day, rally, or touring events, this car is the ideal acquisition for someone looking for a fast, reliable performance toy. Sold with FIA papers, this car should be eligible for vintage use throughout Europe, including prestigious venues such as the LeMans Classic and the Tour Auto, where it would compete against some of the worlds most expensive and exciting racecars at a fraction of the cost.,, $135,000 ,, Advertiser Since 1978
