1963 MG B Roadster, My B is for sale. It's car number 10379, so as you can see it is truly an early car. I purchased this very solid, very nice, West Coast MGB back on Halloween 2011., Why am I selling? Too many cars... need to pair down... I need something more practical like an S2000., To tell you a little bit about me, I am a roadster enthusiast and also own a TR6, Jaguar E-Type. I previously owned a '79 B, and I also have experience with Austin-Healey's and a Jaguar D-Type. Basically, I am very familiar with English cars., I want to say that first off this car is not perfect, but I will also say there are very few this early, this nice. This car is a little gem., I went for what I thought was the most honest, true to form B. It has just over 60,000 original miles. There's no rust, the body is 100 riginal. To err on the side of caution, I would argue that portions of the car have probably been nicely repainted over the years. I am no paint expert so I can not identify which ones. The paint is rather good., The car runs great. The oil pressure is good, 20 at hot idle, and 50 at speed. No overheating, it stays dead on at 180 deg at speed. I can't remember sitting in traffic too much, but I have a few times and no overheating., It does have overdrive, and it's a proper 3-synchro box w/ D-Type Overdrive, with the proper straight gear lever and wiring (relay, dash switch, etc). It did not originally come with this overdrive, but you would not know - it's like it was born there., Despite the fact that the car was nice when I originally purchased it, I did a lot of going over to it anyways. The first gear was absolutely shot, so I sourced a NOS first gear from England, along with the overdrive mainshaft, overdrive adapter, shift tower, and overdrive unit. I also upgraded the second gear to the one that accepts the steel (stronger) synchro as opposed to the brass. The transmission shifts like a dream---no popping out of gear or noises aside from the typical first gear hum on early B's. Overdrive drops in nicely and out with no problems., Lots of might-as-well's were done at the time too...clutch, clutch hydraulics, water pump, oil pump, motor mounts, painting the engine, side cover gaskets, fan belt, radiator hoses, hose clamps, you get the idea. The engine bay is really clean, and really sweet on my B. I did pads and rotors in front for good measure. The tires and chrome wire wheels are in great shape. Someone added these before my ownership, and it was arguably a nice touch. Someone also carpeted the trunk (which I do not like), but I have not removed. I switched to european style tail lamp turn signals, the amber is a nice pop of color against all the red. I also have a very rare, very original Amco center console that I would include with the car (flip this on ebay and you'll easily get $200). The original Wilmot-Breeden keys are present., The carpet was replaced at some point. The door panels are likely the original door panels. The seats are in good shape, but a little bit of the piping on the left side of the drivers seat is worn. Overall I think the interior is great. The dashboard is absolutely perfect, no extra holes or anything., Someone also replaced the convertible top (and did a rather nice job) before my period of ownership., No electrical problems, no running problems, no suspension problems or snaky handling. I drive this car on the expressway at 80mph with no reservations whatsoever., What does it need aside from a new passionate owner? A new rear exhaust hanger. Someone painted it and it's dry-rotted. Also, I would replace the front grill, and I would also replace the 6 chrome moulding strips around the car. If you want to be really picky, some new knock-offs would be a nice finishing touch. I never replace these because there's no way of avoiding them getting banged up., A heater hose under the drivers side dash needs to be reinstalled (I have it and could even do it before you buy it)., The original convertible top boot (still in good shape) will also be included., The only thing I do not like about this car is there is a very subtle dent in the hood that could probably be pounded out by someone with good paintless dent removal skills. I don't suspect any sort of accident damage (there's absolutely no evidence this car has been in an accident). It's hard to show it in images, but I will do my best., I think that's the best I can say at this point. Please let me know if you have any other specific questions and I'll answer them. We can take this further if you are interested and I can provide endless images and a video., For all intents and purposes, this is a turnkey MGB. There's always something to do to these things, but past what I said, I'm not aware of anything that needs attention., I am selling this vehicle with NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. It's a pretty nice car but it is an MG. You will undoubtedly tinker with it in the future. You know that if you are looking at this car. This is an enthusiasts car, this is not intended for someone looking for getting into them for their first time., Please email with any questions, or for my phone number to chat about the car/schedule a test drive if you are local., Pictures below and here: MGB/, $15,000 negotiable
