FYI: In 1950 Mercury produced 8,341 examples of the 2 dr convertible which then sold for $3,400.00. Powered by an L-head V8 engine with a cast iron block and 110hp. A standard 3 spd. manual gear box with the Touch O Matic automatic available as an option. Other options included a radio, PW (standard in a the convertible), heater, 2 tone paint, white wall tires and power seats. An oil bath cleaner could also be purchased. In 1950, it was a big year for the Mercury Marque, as they produced their 1 millionth vehicle. They were invited to pace the Indy 500 as the official pace car and won 2 NASCAR Gr. Pampered through out its lifetime, this beauty was stored in a climate controlled environment and only driven to local car shows and cruise nights. Powered by a V8 Edlebrock alum Ford flathead cylinder heads part # 1125. The Edelbrock alum cylinder head is made of A356 aluminum T-6 tempered cylinder head. They are rugged and ribbed internally and externally for more strength. The compression ratio is 8.0:1 with 3 locks with a 3/16 base relief on a standard bore and stroke. Period Offenhauser dual alum intake with chrome air cleaner covers. Updated 12 volt system, orig. radiator, vacuum wipers, basically very period correct under the hood. The engine runs extremely well, no hesitation and smooth shifting through the gears. The exterior has a nice shiny jet black high gloss finish, older repaint that still looks fantastic. Solid body, fender skirts, BF Goodrich Silverton 7.10 wide white walls, front grille guard, fog lamps, rear bumper guard, dual side view mirrors, exceptionally nice chrome, front grille, parking lamp and headlight surrounds, vent windows, rain diverters. Check out the new leather upholstery, beautifully restored with a supple soft blk/red leather with red piping. Gorgeous matching blk/red leather door panels that make a bold statement and adds that finishing touch. The seating is very comfortable, almost like your favorite couch! New seat foam, seat belts, huge back seat with plenty of room for the folks or the grand children...NO ice cream please! Original 1949 dash, updated JVC am/fm Cd player and water temp gauge neatly installed under the dash. Brand new black cloth power conv. top with red lace. Small glass back window. Power windows all work, orig. glass, replacement split windshield. New visors in leather with passengers side vanity mirror. Orig. steering wheel in near perfect condition. Orig. door handles and hardware is also in very good condition. The trunk area is huge, comes with spare tire, jack and blk convertible boot. An excellent driver, quality condition that's been maintained through the years. Passes the magnet test all the way around and under carriage is very solid as well. The cat's meow? You betcha! This car gets 2 thumbs up and heads turning everywhere. Handsome, stylish and the most sought after rag top you'll find, not to mention the performance and drivability.
