The snarling vicious pony cars of the Trans-Am series are finally getting their due. Cars like this 1970 Boss 302 are red-hot with collectors because everyone has discovered what Mustang fans have known for forty years: these cars are a blast to drive. If you haven't heard one of these deep-breathing small blocks ripping to 7000 RPM you're missing out on one of the automotive kingdom's greatest treats. Here's your chance to join the party. Recently restored to show-winning condition this Boss 302 is a stunning example of arguably the most perfectly balanced first-generation Mustang of them all. With styling details by the legendary Larry Shinoda it was also one of the best-looking with an aggressive racetrack look that translated extremely well to the street. And dressed in brilliant Calypso Coral paint it's a high-profile real-deal 302 that will draw crowds at national meets. The sheetmetal is 100griginal and it has never been wrecked or rusty and the finish work is first rate throughout. The Boss included the blacked-out hood and side stripes all of which have been accurately reproduced here and it carries goodies like the chin spoiler decklid wing and rear window slats not to mention the Shaker hood which completes the look. There isn't much chrome but what is included on this car is brilliantly restored to better-than-new condition and the overall presentation of this car is simply spectacular. The all-black interior is ideal for the potent Boss 302 an all-business driver's environment that is both comfortable and functional. This car offers freshly reupholstered buckets a fold-down rear seat and a lot of new gear including carpets door panels and a fresh dash pad. All the gauges show crisp faces and bright fluorescent orange pointers and the Hurst T-handle shifter atop the wide-ratio 4-speed Toploader is perfect for grabbing gears quickly. The trunk is highly detailed as well including a new mat and a space-saver spare with original jack assembly all set up for show duty. Lift that awesome Shaker hood and under the air-cleaner-mounted scoop you'll find a 1971 vintage service replacement 302 block. It's correct authentic and documented and the restoration ensures that the only differences are merely the numbers stamped on the block itself. There's also a stout LeMans-spec camshaft inside which gives this Boss a gnarly idle and a ripping trip to redline as well as a set of ceramic-coated Flowmasters underneath. All the correct decals lables and markings have been accurately replicated making this a Boss that competes at the highest levels. Underneath you'll note that the original close-ratio 4-speed has been replaced (but the matching-numbers unit is available please call) the floors are beautifully finished and the 9-inch rear has been properly detailed. It rides on gorgeous Magnum 500 wheels wearing correct F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas tires. Documentation includes a Marti Report original build sheet and OwnerCard as well as a correct owner's manual.
