1951 Mercury four door Sport Sedan, was purchased by Theresa Perrella June 4th 1951. It was sold by the P. W. Sherman Motor Company in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Sherman sold Lincoln, Mercury, Packard and International trucks. Ms. Perrella owned the car until June of 1995 when she sold it to me as she was moving to a nursing facility for care., In her 44 years of ownership, she drove the car into the late 1980's and put 74,000 miles on it. The car was well maintained but in need of a little work. I put on tires, an exhaust system, cleaned the gas tank and got it running. I had it shipped to Ohio where I had the engine rebuilt, repainted its original Sheffield Green after some minor body repair, re-chromed the bright parts and put in a new interior, faithfully, recreating the original as best I could. I have done so many little things to it they are hard to list. I did add a sun visor I found at Hershey that was for a 51 Merc and still in the original box. The clock was rebuilt this year. The original rear radio speaker was added a couple of years ago. Other than the rear speaker and the sun visor, the car is just as Ms. Perrella picked it up in June of 1951, even the red wheels that she liked so much., I have driven this car to Hershey from Ohio since 1999. It is a very comfortable car to drive. The car has been shown in the DPC class since its inception except for last year due to illness. It received the 2004 AACA National Award for HPOF in February of 2005 and was featured in the May/June 2005 edition of ANTIQUE AUTOMOBLE magazine., My reason for selling is that it's just time to clear out some of my cars. I love this car but I just don't drive it much anymore. It will make someone a great car to enjoy for years to come as it continues to build value., $23,900
