Powell Sales Brochure', Powell manufacturing started building trucks in the mid 1950's as the demand for vehicles surpassed the capacity of the major manufacturers. Although the company was quite successful producing other types of transportation such as scooters and industrial type vehicles, Haywood and Channing Powell set out to produce an economical and comfortable truck. Their resourcefulness aided to their achievement. The pick-ups were assembled on mainly on stripped and rebuilt 40 and 41 Plymouth Sedan chassis with 201 cubic inch inline six cylinder Mopar engines. Each truck was assemble from available parts so many of the Powell pickups were unique. They used oak bumpers and tailgates and the most notable option being the fishing pole storage tube integrated in the bed., The 1956 Powell presented here comes to us from a long term stint in a private collection. This restored vehicle remains in excellent condition and finished in correct yellow over two tone yellow and brown interior. Mechanically the truck has recently been serviced, is turn-key and ready to drive. Running and driving Powell Pickups are nearing extinction with only a handful of examples on the road.
