Please contact us for more information., Trendsetting engineering and styling seemed to part of the magic that Cadillac turned out year after year. In 1949 an exceptionally sturdy overhead valve V-8 became the brands new power source, The Golden Era of automotive styling is an appropriate way to describe the '50s. Cadillac innovations including the Flotentine Curve roof, bumper tip dual exhaust extensions, egg crate grills and simulated air vent rear fender line treatments., The 1958-1960 era could easily be called the ""Jukebox"" period as the excessive use of towering tail fins, unnecessary glitz and overpowering size was very evident in Cadillac styling. On the other hand the Cadillacs of that era are extremely collectible today, For 1958, Cadillac stood more or less pat on a winning hand. Styling changes involved minor sheet metal reshaping and ornamentation shuffling, and all models acquired the new four-headlamp system, first seen at Cadillac on the Brougham, in line with an industry trend. There was an all new grill featuring multiple round ""cleats"" at the intersection of horizontal and vertical members. The grill insert was wider and the bumper guards were positioned lower to the parking lamps. New dual headlights were seen throughout all lines and small chrome fins decorated front fenders. Tail fins were less pronounced and trim attachments were revised., On Series 63 Eldorado's, a V-shaped ornament and model identification script were mounted to the deck lid. The two luxury Cadillacs also had 10 vertical chevron slashes ahead of the open rear wheel housing and crest medallions on the flanks of the tail fins. Broad sculptured beauty panels decorated the lower rear quarters on Eldorado's and extended around the wheel openings to stretch along the body sills. Standard equipment was the same as the previous year., Eldorado performance was substantially improved with the adoption of three two-barrel carburetors, which boosted output to 335 bhp, 25 bhp up on the single-four-barrel engine used elsewhere in the line. The Brougham's astronomical price was unchanged, but the Seville 40 and Biarritz, which consistently bore identical price tags, rose a startling $762. The factory price of the Biarritz convertible was now $7500 the same as for the hardtop coupe. The timing of such a substantial increase proved to be ill-advised in this deep recession year and sales fell by more than half. The Brougham fared little better, production stopping at a mere 304 units., Five special Eldorado Biarritz convertibles were built with completely automatic top riser mechanisms and metal tonneaus. They incorporated humidity sensors which activated the top mechanism in case of rain. These cars had four-place bucket seating and custom leather interior trims including drive shaft tunnel coverings., This white 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is one of only 815 built for the 1958 model year. It is a solid rust free car that has been stored for the last 30 years. It has a 365/335 H.P. engine, Hydra Matic drive and tri-power. The options include Parade Boot, Sabre wheels, power steering, brakes, windows, antenna and power trunk. It has an Autronic eye, power vent windows and Wonder Bar Radio.",, Auction
