"Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale August 16th- 18th, 2012 at Russo and Steele's 12th Annual Monterey California Auction. Please contact us for more information., The first-generation Camaro debuted in September 1966, for the 1967 model year, up to 1969 on a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and would be available as a 2-door, 2+2 seating, coupé or convertible with a choice of 250 cu in inline-6 and 302 cu in, 307 cu in, 327 cu in, 350 cu in (5.7 L), or 396 cu in (6.5 L) V8 powerplants. Concerned with the runaway success of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet executives realized that their compact sporty car, the Corvair, would not be able to generate the sales volume of the Mustang due to its rear-engine design, as well as declining sales, partly due to the bad publicity from Ralph Nader's book, Unsafe at Any Speed. Therefore, the Camaro was touted as having the same conventional rear-drive, front-engine configuration as Mustang and Chevy II Nova., It wasn't the fastest muscle car, but with single-season styling and a unique combination of brake, engine, exhaust, and induction options, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was arguably the most desirable Z28 of all., Adding $458 to the $2,726 base price of a Camaro coupe, RPO Z28 included the F41 handling suspension with E70X15 raised-letter tires on seven-inch wide rims, quicker steering, and twin rally stripes. Front disc brakes were standard on the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, and for the first time, four-wheel discs were offered. They cost $500 and just 206 sets were delivered, about half going to full race cars., Yet another functional option unique to 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28s was the $79 cowl-induction hood. It had a valve that snapped open at 80-percent throttle to draw in cool air from the base of the windshield., This 1969 Chevy Camaro custom retro-mod is powered by a Corvette LS3 engine with a street and performance wiring harness computer. It has a Zoops polished serpentine posi trac system with, Madison dull fan polished aluminum radiator and a 6180e automatic transmission. It has a G6 tap up, tap down shifter. It is fitted with Vintage air conditioning and street and performance custom headers with flowmaster mufflers and brakes. It is fitted with Cpp big brake kit with chrome master cylinder. It has front disc 13'brakes and rear disc i2"" that are drilled with slotted rotors. It has powder coated brake calipers that are blue., The brake lines are stainless steel and it has Cpp drop spindles. The rear differential is a Chevy 8.5 posi with 3.5 gears. It has a custom drive shaft with Cal trace traction bars and cub frame connectors., It has received a full body off rotisserie restoration. The bottom of car was painted body color with a total custom undercarriage. It has all new glass & trim and a smooth firewall custom engine bay. Rs headlights have been installed. It is finished with Z/28 stripes., The Camro rides on Fosse torq thrust chrome 18"" front wheels and 20 ""back wheels., The interior is a deluxe hounds tooth interior kit with bucket seats and custom built console., It had Restro- mod gauge panel with Thunder road gauges 6 gauge panel with Autometer gauges and American auto wire factory wiring kit.",, Auction
